I want to clear cache on Outlook. When I follow your directions (from past thread), it doesn't work. When folder name is typed into run section, I get an error message saying "Windows cannot open 'C:\Users\Barb'. Make sure you type in name correctly then try again." I have also tried other directions from other sites - none of them work. Can you help?

Thank you

    Hello Barb Wolfe,

    Greetings.

I understand that you need to clear your outlook cache. May I please confirm whether you are inputting the following path in the run section? %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook

If so, please try with steps below and check if you can access this folder.

    • First quit the Outlook app Save any work you may be doing.
    • Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run box. Type the following path into the box and press Enter. %localappdata%

    • In the opened folder, select Microsoft >Outlook.
    • In the next folder containing your Outlook profile and cache files. Find the RoamCache folder and double-click to open it.
    • Select all files using Ctrl + A on your keyboard >right-click and select the Delete option.

Alternatively, you can open this folder directly from outlook.

    • In classic outlook, click File >Account settings >Account settings
    • In the Account settings dialog, click Data Files >select the account file from the list >Click Open Data File Location.

    • In the next folder containing your Outlook profile and cache files. Find the RoamCache folder and double-click to open it >Quit Outlook.
    • Select all files using Ctrl + A on your keyboard >right-click and select the Delete option.

If you can't see these options, please let me know the operating system that you are running.

->Please let me know the outlook version you are using as well. What version of Outlook do I have? - Microsoft Support

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best Regards,

    Ashraf.

It's Outlook New. Outlook New is continuing to come up for me. The reason I wanted to clear the cache is because one website said this would help, as I don't want the new one to pop up. I don't know how to switch it back to the old. Sometimes there will be a toggle switch to switch back to the old one, but most of the time there isn't any. I have tried different settings to have the new emails show, but nothing works. Maybe I don't even need to clear the cache? I just want the old Outlook to pop up every time. I suppose the old Outlook is going to go away.

    Hello Barb,

    Thank you for the response.

If you search for the outlook app from the start menu, which result are you getting? Is it Outlook or Outlook New or both?

From your reply, 'olk.exe' stands for the New Outlook (the one with new on the icon or in the brackets). Please confirm if this is the one you are using? If so, this one doesn't have a cache folder on your desktop as it operates fully online. May I know why you need to clear the outlook cache?

->Also, if you have the classic outlook installed (without the 'new' on the icon), please let me know.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best Regards,

    Ashraf.
