Hello SHAW Elissa,
Good day!
Thanks for reaching out. Thank you for providing detailed information on the issue you’re experiencing with the New Outlook app on Windows 10 Pro. I understand that you've been using the New Outlook for a few months without problems, but today, it’s completely unresponsive. The app shows a partial loading bar, but it doesn’t open even after a restart and attempting an uninstall.
There are a few steps we can take to troubleshoot, but first, let’s try to clarify some details to better understand the situation:
1. Update Check: Do you know if any recent updates were applied to your Windows system or Microsoft 365 apps? Sometimes, certain updates can cause compatibility issues.
2.Error Messages: When you attempt to open the New Outlook, does any error message appear, or does it remain completely unresponsive with no pop-ups?
3.Account Access: If you're signed in to your Microsoft account within the Classic Outlook app or Web app, does everything load normally there?
4.Other Microsoft Apps: Are there any other apps (e.g., Word, Excel) that aren’t responding as expected, or is this mainly affecting Outlook?
- What account type are you suing? (eg. Exchange, IMAP, POP 3 etc)
Given what you’re describing, this might be due to a background process or a recent update causing the New Outlook app to hang. I will try to provide first line solutions based on your current description and a personal advice on this based on my experieces with issues like these:
App Reset:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & Features in older versions).
- Scroll down, locate Outlook (New), select Advanced options, then click Reset. This will reset the app without affecting your data.
Windows System File Check:
- It’s possible that some system files are corrupted. Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type
sfc /scannow to scan and repair any corrupted system files.
Microsoft 365 Repair:
- Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, find Microsoft 365, and select Change. Choose Quick Repair or Online Repair to fix any underlying issues.
Clear the Cache: Sometimes, clearing the app’s cache can resolve loading issues. You can do this by navigating to Settings > System > Storage, then selecting Temporary files and clearing the cache.
Create a New Profile:
- Open Control Panel and search for "Mail."
- Click on "Show Profiles" and then "Add" to create a new profile. Set this new profile as the default and try opening Outlook again.
If these itroubleshooting steps do not resolve this issue, try doing a backup and perfrom a system restore to a restore point where it was working normally. This normally resolves this kind of issues based on personal experience.
Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance. I truly appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation. Have a great day!
