Outlook won’t synchronize with my comcast.net email account. Has worked fine for many years. How can I fix it?

I think I got some help from Xfinity via their forums, but no solutions. A few days ago, my intermittent ability to download via Outlook became much less intermittent. In essence, the problem went away, at least for longer than in the past. I still get a drop down complaining that there's something wrong with a certificate somewhere, but when I say to use the certificate anyway, the Outlook request goes through. Recent past suggests that things may go south again, as I have seen the drop down before and allowing the connection to go through only bombed later with the 0X800CCC92 error.

One related problem on my wife's computer. She can download vi Outlook from one account, but not the other at Xfinity. This second account has her password in capital letters, which is not the correct one for the site which works via browsers, but I haven't been able to change it in Outlook. It seems that after I correct the password, Outlook tries to connect and gets rejected, whereupon the password reverts to its prior incorrect capitalized form. While the rejection may be due to some other cause not yet revealed, I don't understand why the rejection gets my incorrect password restored locally. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem, but wished that the last answer had come first... because it turned out the my Norton Safe Email add-on was in fact interfering the login process. After removing my Outlook 365 email address from this protective feature, things went more smoothly.

Also (prior to this Norton add-on being included in my subscription) when such difficulties arose I found that frequently the Office 365 Repair process in Control Panel managed to correct the problems, at least until things got confused again.

I'll also point out that if you aren't an active subscriber to Xfinity's services you're not going to receive much (if any) troubleshooting help from them. It will be assumed that it's a Microsoft problem, end of story.

I found that I hadn't entered the new password on my desktop in all logins for outlook. The password change didn't flow over to all my devices because the desktop is dell (pc) and my other devices are Apple. After I changed my password on my desktop, everything has been ok.

I have the same problem and all steps have been tried. What's really weird is the problem doesn't always occur. I can get into my Comcast email via my browser almost always, but Classical Outlook works every now and then. When it doesn't, I get a popup asking for a password which is shown to be installed, then an error message claiming I've been temporarily blacklisted and recommending that I try again later.

My copy of Classical Outlook came with Microsoft 365 last year and worked until a month or two ago. I use POP3 for my Comcast accounts, but my wife runs IMAP on all of hers and has the same problem. Both of us are running Windows 10. I've posted on the Xfinity forum, and while no solutions were found, I did get a Microsoft telephone number from the Xfinity security people. Unfortunately, the AI or whatever on the phone refused to help other than to send me here.

Does this problem exist in New Outlook? If it does, what happens to POP3 folders when New Outlook connects to the Xfinity server using IMAP protocol?

How many places (and where?) are there password fields?
