Forgot password, no longer have access to Authenticator app/device

Hi,

Tried resetting the password but it always asks me for the additional email to send the recovery code. That part works but I am unable to move forward because it still asks for the authenticator code (2FA)

I've tried multiple times until I reached a point where I could fill information regarding the account an emails that I have sent; however, I received an email stating that " looks like you just used the Microsoft account recovery form ( https://account.live.com/acsr?mkt=es-MX ) to request a password reset for ******@live.com . Since you've already enabled two-step verification for your account, we skipped these requests but wanted to let you know."

So I am getting nowhere.

The account is used only for incoming emails and I would rarely forward or create emails. I actually believe I have never used it to sent an email. Is there somewhere where I could reach out to work on how to identify myself so that the account will get restored. I cannot afford to lose this account.

Thanks!

    Hi,

I factory reset my iphone and did not start this up with my back up data. This means i had to re-download all applications and log back in. I forgot my outlook password and had 2 step verification enabled.

I can retrieve my phone code but can't get my microsoft authentication code or password from my password manager as both of these apps require me to retrieve a code from my locked out outlook and I don't know my password manager password.

I am stuck out of my email account even with my phone code. Can someone please advise how I can retrieve my account back.

Microsoft has introduced a faulty verification system and should be held responsible. The fact that phones are lost or stolen is a common use case scenario. Microsoft is disallowing recovery methods on paid accounts, You cannot honestly say that there is NO WAY to verify an account holder, especially given they already have a VALID PASSWORD.

    Hello.

I accidently deleted my Microsoft account for my business e-mail in the Authenticator. It isn't in my backup. When I try to re-add it manually, I know my password, it wants me to use the Authenticator. When I click on "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now" it loops back with out giving me an option to use my phone or e-mail.

How do I re-add my account?

Hi, do you still happen to have the email address, If so could you please post it? I am currently going through the same issue, I got a new phone, forgot my password to my outlook and lost access to my microsoft authenticator as it did not back up to my icloud. I have tried going through all the trouble shooting steps, but it keeps bringing my to the microsoft autheticator page which I literally cannot access and it does not let me put in my phone number as I get the "That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method." error. Please I would greatly appreciate you assistance. I have also tried calling and filling out forms to get access, but no avail.

    Hi there 308151LB!

I am Lumie and I would love to help you today.

Unfortunately, there is no system in place that can help open an account for you - other than the prompts you already have seen.

If you have lost your Microsoft Authenticator then the only option would be to restore it from backup or use the authentication system through the app.

Here are the steps to restore from back up:

On your mobile device, open the Authenticator app, and select Begin recovery.

Sign in to your recovery account using the personal Microsoft account you used during the backup process. Your account credentials are recovered to the new device.

Here is how to recover from the recovery options:

In the Accounts screen of the Authenticator app, tap the account you want to recover to open the full screen view of the account.

Tap the tile for the account you're recovering and then tap the option to sign in to recover. Enter your password and then confirm your email address or phone number as additional verification.

All this information and more can be found here: [https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/bb939936-7a8d-4e88-bc43-49bc1a700a40]

If none of this works then I am sorry, but there is no other system in place. Other potential systems like submitting data or Passports could be stolen, forged or doctored so this is the only way.

    I hope this helps you!

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. =)
