Can't print from Outlook

Hi

I have co worker who isn't able to print emails from outlook.
When he clicks on the printer button from the top toolbar no printer window comes up. Nothing happens when he clicks on the three dots and clicks "Print" from the drop down menu either. Previously he has been able to print emails on outlook and no one else in the office has complained about having this issue.

He is on windows 11 and has the new outlook through Office 365.
He is not able to print on either the app or the browser version of Outlook. We tried printing from Word and he was able to print.

We have tried restarting both Outlook and his computer but neither solved the problem. He doesn't have the switch on his outlook so we're not able to have him go back to the classic version of Outlook.

I've searched Microsoft support and googled the issue but haven't found anything similar to what my co worker is experiencing.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I've encountered the exact same issue. I have tried this solution as well as going into Windows>Installed Apps>Outlook (new)>Advanced Options and tried both 'Repair' and 'Reset'. I have also tried an online repair of Office 365. I even tried the older solution for classic Outlook of renaming the print settings file.

If I switch to 'Classic', I can print no problem. If I open Word/Excel/literally any application other than new Outlook, I can print.

To the original poster, if you're still looking for the temporary solution of switching back to classic, have him go into new Outlook, go to the 'Help' tab, and there he can switch back to classic. Hopefully they figure out why some folks are having this issue (I'm 1 of 10 people in our office and I'm the only one with the issue).

Hello L644, Good morning! Thank you for posting to the Microsoft community. We will be happy to help you.

Based on your description I advise you to uninstall your Outlook and install it back and check if the issue persists.

    To uninstall new Outlook:

    1. From the Startmenu, select new Outlook for Windows.
    2. Select the arrow to expand the list option in Start.
    3. Select Uninstallto begin the uninstall process.

    To reinstall new Outlook:

    1. Open classic Outlook for Windows.
    2. In the top corner, you'll see a toggle to Try the new Outlook  New Outlook for Windows toggle.
    3. Select this toggle to download the new app and you will switch to the new Outlook for Windows.

If the issue persists and the user cannot still see the toggle to revert to classic Outlook. Kindly follow the steps in the attached document Toggle out of the new Outlook for Windows preview - Microsoft Support

If you toggled into the new Outlook for Windows preview from classic Outlook for Windows, every time you try to launch classic Outlook for Windows you'll be redirected to the new Outlook for Windows preview. You can go back to classic Outlook for Windows by selecting the toggle in the new Outlook for Windows app.   **Note:**You may not see the toggle if classic Outlook for Windows isn't installed on your device. For help installing classic Outlook, follow the instructions in You can't open classic Outlook on a new Windows PC. If for some reason you don’t see a toggle in the new Outlook for Windows, try these troubleshooting steps:

    1. Make sure you try to launch classic Outlook for Windows from the Windows Start Menu, not the new Outlook for Windows. The new Outlook for Windows has a “New” tag on its app icon. For classic Outlook, select the icon without a “New” tag.
    2. From the Windows Start Menu, type “Registry Editor” in the search box and select the Registry Editor app.
    3. Navigate to the following path: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Preferences
    4. Scroll to the bottom of the list to and double click on UseNewOutlook.
    5. Enter 0 in the Value Data field.
    6. Attempt to launch classic Outlook for Windows from the Windows Start Menu.

**Tip:**Remember to choose the app icon that doesn't have a Newtag.

We look forward to hearing from you! Thank you for your valuable time. Have a nice day!

    Sincerely,Simbarashe | Community moderator
