Hello Aleksandar,
Thank you for reaching out to us with this issue. I understand how frustrating it can be when Outlook Calendar isn’t working as expected, especially with scheduling flexibility. It sounds like you're experiencing an issue where selecting a new date or time in the dropdowns doesn’t actually update the calendar event, though dragging and dropping the event to a new time does work.
You mentioned that when you attempt to select a different time or date from the dropdown list, it remains unchanged. However, dragging and dropping events works as expected. This inconsistency could be linked to settings or software issues specific to that notebook.
To better understand and investigate your issue, may I get some more detailed information from your side:
- Will you please share me your Outlook version details? Please follow this article What version of Outlook do I have? - Microsoft Support and follow the steps to check.
- Are you using Microsoft365 business account(@xxx.onmicrosoft.com/@yourdomain.com) or personal account (which is ended with outlook.com/hotmail.com/live.com/msn.com) or some other 3rd party pop/imap account?
Here’s how you can try to fix it:
- Restart Outlook
Start by restarting the Outlook application completely. Sometimes, a minor glitch in Outlook can cause these types of display issues, and a restart can help reset the application's functionality. - Verify Time Zone Settings:Confirm that the time zone settings in both Windows and Outlook match. In Windows, go to Control Panel > Date and Time, and ensure the correct time zone is selected. In Outlook, navigate to File > Options > Calendar > Time Zones to verify the settings
- Run Outlook in Safe Mode
Try running Outlook in Safe Mode to see if an add-in might be causing the issue. To do this, close Outlook, then open the Run dialog by pressingWin + R, typeoutlook.exe /safe, and pressEnter. If the dropdowns work in Safe Mode, an add-in may be conflicting with your calendar. - Re-enable Date and Time Settings:Sometimes re-enabling your date and time settings can resolve issues. Go to Settings > Date & Time, toggle off the automatic setting, then toggle it back on
- Repair Office
If restarting and Safe Mode don't help, try repairing your Office installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, select your Office installation, and choose Change > Repair. Follow the prompts, and once it’s done, restart Outlook to see if the issue is resolved. - Update Outlook
Make sure Outlook and Office are fully updated. Sometimes bugs are addressed in updates, and keeping your software current can resolve unexpected issues. - Create a New Outlook Profile
If none of the above solutions work, try creating a new Outlook profile. Go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles, then add a new profile and set it as default. This can help if there’s a corruption in your existing profile that’s affecting the calendar.
Since dragging and dropping seems to work, you can continue using that as a workaround until the dropdown issue is resolved.
Please let us know if these steps help or if the issue persists. We’re here to help!
