Spam emails from myself?

Anonymous

This is the first time i have received a span email that appeared to come from my own email address. It even had my profile picture i use for my email address.

It seems like quite a standard email from looking at others, mentions some spyware had been installed on my devices (pegasus), threatening to post the “perverted” things i look at and do unless i send money. But upon checking my sent box nothing had been sent from my email, and checking sign in attempts shows nothing either.

Although i am pretty confidant it’s a scam and have nothing in the way of perverted to hide, should i still be worried? I didn't read it properly and deleted it before reporting it put of pure panic.

Im really just looking for reassurance i suppose.

Thank you.

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

While the messages appear to come from you, they obviously don't. Your address is known to scammers and they are also using your address as the From address, which is easy to do. The scam you describe is a common scam and you should ignore it. Do not be worried. Are the messages arriving in your Junk Email folder? If so, they're considered blocked and they'll be removed automatically in from 10 to 30 days.

Me too. Ive received so many of these emails. Almost 5 per day. I keep blocking them and its phishing but it doesnt seem to stop.

Im going to change my password, just in case but its interesting that MS can recognise them as spam and send them away.

Are they any other actions that should be taken??

Same here. Really annoying that MS isn't smart enough to filter these out yet, come on MS!

I tried making a rule to filter anything recieved from my email as junk but that didn't work either....

Hi I had the same thing happen to me yesterday.

2 emails that seem to be from myself.

They are in my main inbox rather than my junk folder!

Do I need to change my passwords?

    TIA
