I need to transfer the ownership of MS Outlook Teams meeting to a colleague, so that the transfer is seamless to the attendees. That is, attendees don't receive a cancellation from me and the new organizer need not set up a new series after that. How can I do this?

    🎉 I THINK I FOUND A SOLOUTION!! 🎉

    **It's very convoluted; sorry

    • Have the new person open Outlook (has to be browser version)
    • They will right click on the mtg instance and click Duplicate
    • Make sure the mtg is still set for recurring or whatever and make sure it is set to location Teams meeting
      • If the original organizer is leaving that position, make sure the new owner removes them from the new mtg
    • Then the original organizer will delete their instance of the mtg
    • The meeting chat thread will still be there with the new duplicated mtg
    • If the original organizer is leaving, they will still have access to that chat thread
      • They can't be removed because they are still listed as owner (not sure what happens if they fully leave the company and don't have the company email address anymore)
    • The original organizer will see when the call is in progress, but they won't have the option to join
    • The new organizer will be able to edit/cancel/reschedule the new mtg even though it will still be listed under the original owner

I agree with whoever said that they make an Admin account and use that account to create mtgs that way others can control them too

    Hope this works out!! ❤️

PS. @Microsoft - Get it together. This desperately needs to be remedied.

    Hi Alex,

I was able to use the Meeting Options to add a co-organizer using a drop-down menu. I don't see a way to outright assign the meeting to a different person. Would this difference be caused by versions or the implementation approach at my workplace? Or is there another way that I can completely reassign the meeting?

    Looking for two methods:

1- Meeting Owner moves to a different role and team needs to continue without disruption, esp with clients, on regular meetings. How does the owner totally transfer the meeting to someone else without flooding everyone's inbox? Not co-hosts/owners - total transfer with full freedom to add/delete meeting members and change dates/times?

2- Meeting Owner leaves the company. Same issue with large or client facing meetings. Can the company's administrators move the meeting from the departing employee to the new meeting owner?

Thanks for the response. From all of the comments, and the number of answers on other sites on this topic, you'd think MS would make transferring meeting leadership a feature not a hassle.

When adding a co-organizer to the meeting, it doesn't allow the co-organizer to modify the meeting series, modify attendees and/or to cancel a meeting within the series. Is there a setting that needs to be configured?
