    Dear Teresa Cadorin,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

First of all, we apologize for the inconvenience caused to your work. Based on your post regarding "how do i change outlook back to the old version".

    please try the below:

From New Outlook for windows > Help > Go to Classic Outlook.

    1. To switch back to the classic view in Outlook, follow these steps:
    • Open Outlook.
    • Navigate to the Outlook menu.
    • Uncheck the option for the New Outlook.
    • Click the Revert button.
    • Allow the application to revert to the Outlook Classic view.
    1. If you don't see a toggle in the new Outlook for Windows, troubleshoot with these steps:
    • Launch classic Outlook for Windows from the Windows Start Menu, not the new Outlook (identified by the "New" tag).
    • Open the Registry Editor by typing "Registry Editor" in the Start Menu search and selecting the app.
    • Go to Computer**\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook**Preferences.
    • Find and double-click on "UseNewOutlook" at the bottom of the list.
    • Set the Value Data field to 0.
    • Attempt to launch classic Outlook for Windows from the Windows Start Menu.

REF:Toggle out of the new Outlook for Windows preview

3.if the above steps didn't reterve to classic outlook you can Install classic Outlook for Windows: To install a standalone version of classic Outlook for Windows, select Download and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

REF:You can't open classic Outlook on a new Windows PC

I hope the above information will be helpful. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other concern or if I get you wrong. Glad to assist you. We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation. Thanks for your precious time!

    Hi Mary,

Unfortunately the suggestions don't solve the problem.

There is a toggle to Old Outlook under the Help tab, and it attempts to launch it but comes up with the same warning as when I launch Old Outlook from the Start menu "Outlook couldn't start last time..... Do you want to start it in safe mode" Answer either Y or N and it crashes and tells Microsoft about the problem. Not very helpful.

In the Registry there isn't a 'Use New Outlook' key, although even if there was I guess I'd get the same issue.

I've tried the download twice now and it makes no difference.

I can only hope that Microsoft listen to the users and put back features from the Old Outlook. I see there have been issues raised with it for some considerable time, so I get the feeling they aren't really understanding why simple things like the inconsistent 'Received' date format are so frustrating.
