Dear pauldruery,
Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.
I understand that the applications on your phone are experiencing issues.
Please don't worry, I will do my best to help you solve this problem together now.
Any ideas whats going on or has MS changed pop setting? or has MS done some updates and causing this issue?
Yes, Microsoft has recently implemented a policy update for new authentication methods.
Information: Until September 16th, users signing into Outlook.com through Basic Authentication may experience recurring password prompts in Outlook and other third-party email applications. This is a known issue. After September 16th, users attempting to connect their Microsoft accounts through Basic Authentication will fail to do so.
In this situation, you can refer to the following methods to solve this problem:
If your Hotmail account is configured with POP/IMAP and SMTP, please use the Outlook.com/Exchange protocol instead.
1.Please check that your Outlook has been updated to the latest version. And add your account again.
2.To alleviate this issue, please delete the account and add it back to Outlook.com. In the "Add Account" dialog box, select "Outlook.com".
Note: Based on the above plan, it can be inferred that after September 16th, Outlook.com/Hotmail.com/MSN.com/Live.com can only use the Outlook.com/Exchange protocol. Therefore, if your account is an account of the aforementioned domain name. This should be the reason why you encounter problems after configuring POP/IMAP.
