Horizontal scrollbar seems to have gone missing

Has anyone else noticed it? It happens both in the preview window and when you double-click a message to try it in a new window. I'd never noticed it happening before about a week or two ago. I'm currently on beta build 16.0.18227.2000, but it' was also a problem in at least the previous build if not the one before that.

Well, on two systems today, systems which had NO apparent Office or Windows updates, the problem magically resolved itself.

How is this possible? At first I thought of the Windows Store, and there was a suspicious update there today called Windows Web Experience Pack, but then I noticed on the other system that it hadn't updated yet, so that theory was out.

That pretty much left one thing: Office has a scheduled task that runs periodically. That triggers OfficeC2RClient.exe, and it's free to do all sorts of things. I think Microsoft fixed it that way. It was not a new build, it was something a lot smaller, probably one file somewhere or even a Registry change.

I have this issue as well on my desktop version and the "Check Scroll Bar Settings" shared above really doesn´t exist on the desktop version.

Can you cite one other recent thread on this that pertains to the desktop version? That would be helpful. I haven't found it. If it's a bug, I'm not sure why you're suggesting most of the things that you are. But until I can find one other recent thread I don't know what it is.

BTW, the scroll bar setting that you mention doesn't even pertain to Outlook but rather Word.

That's the Word setting I was referring to, but it's enabled and I don't think it matters to OL despite the overlap between the two.

Your version is what I was using until yesterday. What's interesting here is that I just asked someone with that version, and they have scrollbars. So I don't think it's OL necessarily. Perhaps a Windows theme setting. I'm thinking on that.

    Dear reepster,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

Based on your post regarding "Horizontal scrollbar seems to have gone missing". Yes, several users have reported the same issue with the missing horizontal scrollbar in Outlook. It seems to be a recent development, and many are experiencing it on various Outlook versions, including the ones you mentioned.

    Please try the following troubleshooting:

    • Check for Updates: Ensure you're on the latest beta version, as the issue might have been addressed in a subsequent update.
    • Check Zoom Level: Adjust the zoom level using the zoom controls or keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Plus or Ctrl+Minus).
    • Check Scroll Bar Settings: Go to File > Options > Advanced and ensure that the "Show horizontal scroll bar" option is checked.
    • Reset Window Layout: Close the application and press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook and press Enter. Rename the Outlook folder to OldOutlook and restart Outlook.
    • Clear Cache/Settings: If there's an option to clear cache or reset settings, it could resolve any temporary glitches.
    • Reinstall: As a last resort, reinstalling the application might fix the issue if it persists.
    • Report the Issue: Submitting your valuable feedback directly to the Microsoft product development team is strongly recommended by either going to Help in the outlook App > submit Feedback or posting onOutlook · Community (microsoft.com)for feature requests.

If you still need further help, then please kindly share with me the above feedback after you tried it, and I will do my best to do more research and testing to help you further, thank you.

Thank you in advance for your understanding. Your patience and cooperation will be greatly appreciated. I hope for all the best!
