Why Does My New Outlook Calendar Show a Colleague as "Also in Office" in the Upper Right Corner?

Hi,

In my new Outlook calendar, there's an "Also in office today" section in the upper right corner, and it only shows one colleague.

I'm curious about what determines which colleague appears there, as we're not in the same organization and don't share the same Teams channel.

Could someone explain how this feature works? I'm having trouble understanding it.

Thank you!

Was there any resolution to this? I have someone showing who I really don't want to see! I have made sure their calendar isn't in my list and they are not in my contacts.

Hi, I think I found the answer to this.

I am not able to upload a photo so I will try to give you steps:

Go to Calender > There is a purple "+" sign in the working day section to the right > If you click on the purple + sign in our calendar. It lets you add your In office days.

I have two people who are showing up on mine, so I think that they have selected their days in office using this purple button. So now it is telling me each time they are in office.

EDIT: I was able to load my screenshot, see attached.

This is because it is also linked with your Teams account. When you update in Teams it pulls tis over to Outlook.

    Hello Eva Lien 連翊雯 [dentsu],

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you want to know how the “Also in the office today” feature works in New Outlook.

Based on your description, it seems you are logging into New Outlook with an organizational account. When logging into New Outlook with a personal account and a Microsoft 365 business account, the features in New Outlook are not exactly the same. This is actually managed by two different support teams.

Please confirm the following questions so you can receive more professional support.

    • Is your account a Microsoft 365 business account?
    • Can you log in using outlook.office.com?

I look forward to your response.

    Best Regards,
