In Old Outlook, there were clear instructions on how to change the Encoding for Outgoing Messages to UTF-8 (see below). The path below is no longer available in New Outlook, so how do you change the encoding for outgoing messages in the New Outlook to UTF-8?

Old Outlook Instructions

To change the character set in Microsoft Outlook, you can set the preferred encoding for outgoing messages to Unicode (UTF-8):

  1. Select File
  2. Select Options
  3. Select Advanced
  4. In the International options section, check the box labeled Automatically select encoding for outgoing messages
  5. Select Unicode (UTF-8) from the drop-down menu
  6. Click OK to save the changes

    Dear Erika Balter,

Good day. After thorough research and consulting, it’s been concluded that the option to change the message encoding directly in new Outlook as the old one is not feasible.

As workaround set the global encoding policy for Outlook users at the server level Or since New outlook work as outlook on the web follow the steps via this link: Message encoding options in Exchange Server | Microsoft Learn
