I want to customize the ribbon in my outlook email. I can get to the customize part but it won't let me move or add anything

I can get to the customize screen however it will not let me move/add a new group or perhaps I am not doing it correctly. Steps to take once you are in customize would be helpful. Also I have tried a couple different browsers to see if that made a difference

    Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you cannot customize the Outlook ribbon. I see that you have selected New Outlook in the board and you mentioned that you tried different browsers. But neither New Outlook nor Outlook web version supports customizing the ribbon. You can only switch between the Classic and Simplified Ribbon by clicking View -> Layout -> Ribbon at the top.

    Outlook Classic is able to customize the Ribbon. customizing the Ribbon is the same for all programs in the Office suite. You can refer this link to learn how to customize the Ribbon.

    Thank you for your response.  I am attaching a (bad) photo of the area I am talking about. I don’t use Archive or Snooze and rarely use Flag or Pin so I would like to change to have Move, Rules and Block up there instead if it is possible. Thanks again Vicki

    Welcome back to the Microsoft Community.

    Thank you for the screenshots and detailed explanation. I first adjusted the ribbon of Outlook (New) to be the same as yours.

    First select the three dots on the right. Click Customize.

    You can check the functions you want. Uncheck the functions you don't want. In the Ribbon preview above, you can drag different functions to different positions, such as changing the left and right positions or changing the group.

    Click Save to update to the new functional area.
