Cntr+F In Outlook

I wonder why such a popular Keyboard shortcut as Control +F is basically unavailable in the new Outlook?

When turning off the Keyboard shortcut, support in setting Cntr+F just does not produce any results, and by default, it forwards the email.

Is it possible to enable the feature of searching in the next in the Outlook app?

    Hi Md,

Cntr+E moves to the search window at the top of the app; it conducts a search through the whole folder of the mailbox, and it does not allow searching with a single opened email.

We should have this basic functionality without "third-party tools".

I would suggest submitting a ticket to the app development team, as it looks like the new Outlook is just a copy of the website, and it is useless. If MS cannot develop an app which has some advanced features compared to the web version the there is nota sense of having mail client app that can less, than the web interface

    Dear MD,

Cntr+F works only when accessing the Outlook web page; it does not work for the Windows app. When hitting Cntr+Shift+F, it forwards the current email but not the search text within it.

There should be some way to disable forwarding with Cntr+F and set it for searching within the currently opened email.

P.S. as Cntr+F is the command used frequently on all other apps, including MS Word, it should not mean something different in Outlook.

    Alex

    Hello AlexOTs,

    Thanks for your quick reply!

Using Ctrl+E or F3: This shortcut activates the search bar at the top of the Outlook window. Once active, type the text you wish to find within the email. : For a more comprehensive search across multiple emails, you can hit Ctrl+Shift+F to open the advanced search panel. However, this may not function as expected in all setups, depending on the version you are using

However, there is a dedicated support team for New Outlook for Windows issues. Hello AlexOTs

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community!

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. In the new Outlook (particularly after updates), pressing Control + F initiates forwarding the currently selected email rather than opening a search function. The reason the Control + F keyboard shortcut is not available for searching in the new Outlook app lies in its predefined function to forward emails rather than triggering a search dialog. You can use Ctrl + E: This shortcut opens the search box in the title bar of Outlook, which allows users to perform searches within their mailbox. Also, you can use, Ctrl + Shift + F: This combination also directs users to the search functionality, focusing specifically on finding emails.

As of now, there is no built-in option or setting in Outlook to redefine Control + F to activate the search feature instead of forwarding.

As a part of the community team, we are here to assist you in troubleshooting and providing information on the availability status of features. However, it's important to note that our community team and the Microsoft product development team operate independently.
