Hello AlexOTs
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community!
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. In the new Outlook (particularly after updates), pressing Control + F initiates forwarding the currently selected email rather than opening a search function. The reason the Control + F keyboard shortcut is not available for searching in the new Outlook app lies in its predefined function to forward emails rather than triggering a search dialog. You can use Ctrl + E: This shortcut opens the search box in the title bar of Outlook, which allows users to perform searches within their mailbox. Also, you can use, Ctrl + Shift + F: This combination also directs users to the search functionality, focusing specifically on finding emails.
As of now, there is no built-in option or setting in Outlook to redefine Control + F to activate the search feature instead of forwarding.
As a part of the community team, we are here to assist you in troubleshooting and providing information on the availability status of features. However, it's important to note that our community team and the Microsoft product development team operate independently. Therefore, for feature suggestions or design-related queries, we always encourage users to directly submit feedback to the Microsoft product team.
Keep in mind that since the new outlook is still in active development, Microsoft is constantly working to improve its products and add many new features to the new outlook. I suggest you take a look at the Microsoft Outlook blog Things to expect in the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Community Hub or the Microsoft 365 roadmap | Microsoft 365 for any feature updates. In the meantime, I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will relay your feedback to the appropriate team for consideration in future updates. If you rely heavily on these features, you may want to consider exiting the new preview of Outlook for Windows for now. I'll also update here once I get additional information and the specific timeline for the feature will be added. I suggest you contact the new Outlook for Windows at the application support team for this new Outlook issue:
Contact support and provide feedback on the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support
If you don't mind, provide feedback on this feature request by creating a new post in the Feedback Portal in Outlook · Community (microsoft.com), or directly through its new perspective (Help-->Feedback), Microsoft is committed to improving the customer experience by continually reviewing suggestions to include in the design and development of future product updates based on your feedback.
Thank you very much for your valuable time and cooperation.
Sincerely
Md Ashabul Haque | Microsoft Community Moderator
