Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Dear Astrid Kovacs,
Good day!
Thank you for Replying to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.
1. Email Client Configuration:
- Ensure your email client is configured with the correct SMTP settings:
- SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com
- Port: 587 (TLS) or 25
- Authentication: Enabled, with the correct email and password.
- Send a test email to see if it goes through without errors.
2. Test Using Telnet:
- Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac).
- Type telnet smtp.office365.com 587 and press Enter.
- If connected, you’ll see a response from the server. Type QUIT to exit.
- If you cannot connect, there may be network issues or firewall settings blocking the connection.
3. Check for Errors: If you encounter errors while sending emails, note the error codes/messages. Common SMTP errors can indicate specific issues with your configuration.
1. Rate Limiting:
- Microsoft 365 has limits on the number of emails you can send daily and per minute. If you exceed these limits, your account might be temporarily blocked.
- For standard accounts, you can typically send 500 emails per day; for some business plans, it may be higher. Monitor your sending rates.
2. Email Content: Ensure your emails do not contain spammy content or excessive links. Use clear subject lines and personalized content.
3. Verify SPF, DKIM, and DMARC: Double-check that your SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records are properly set up. Misconfigured records can lead to emails being marked as spam.
4. Monitor Sending Patterns: If you send many emails in a short time frame, it can trigger spam filters. Try to space out your sends.
5. Check Your Sending Reputation: Use tools like Microsoft’s Sender Score or other reputation checking services to see if your sending IP or domain has a bad reputation.
I hope the above information will be helpful. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other concern or if I get you wrong. Glad to assist you. We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation. Thanks for your precious time!
