I've been trying for hours just to contact someone on here it's a joke.

This is the message i get when i email myself. The email address is comes from is not mine.

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: *@hotmail.com (*@hotmail.com).

The recipient's email system isn't accepting messages now. Please try resending your message later or contact the recipient directly.

    Dear Markk75

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having trouble on Emails bouncing back to sender.

I'm glad I could reply here and try to help you troubleshoot.

Thank you for providing detailed error description.

    Let’s do some analysis:

1.Error Code 550 5.5.0: This code generally signifies that the email server could not process your email request because the destination mailbox is unavailable. It does not necessarily mean that the address does not exist, but rather that the mailbox may be temporarily down or inaccessible.

2.Bounce vs. Receipt: The fact that your email is bouncing back means the sending server cannot deliver the message to the receiver’s mailbox. However, if you see that some related messages are still being received, it can be due to:

Cached or stored copies of messages that were sent prior.

The recipient may have alternate methods of receiving their emails (e.g., a forwarding address).

The specific mailbox may be temporarily inaccessible while others are functioning.

    Possible Causes:

    (1. Temporary Issues: The recipient's mailbox may be experiencing temporary issues (like being full, disabled, or in maintenance). Resending the email later may work.

    (2. Invalid Characters: The email address includes unusual characters (like spaces or non-ASCII characters). Ensure that the email address is entered correctly and does not contain hidden characters.

    (3. Recipient’s Mail Configuration: There could be configuration issues from the recipient's email provider resulting in rejection (like spam filters or mailbox settings).

    (4. Network or Connectivity Issues: Sometimes, network issues between your email provider and the recipient’s provider can create delivery problems.

    Suggested Actions:

1.Wait and Retry: If the issue is temporary, waiting some time and then attempting to resend could solve the problem.

2.Contact the Recipient: If possible, verify with the recipient whether their email is functioning correctly or if they have alternate addresses.

3.Check Email Format: Ensure that the email address does not contain any syntax errors or hidden characters—try typing it manually if you suspect this.

Outlook.com team are equipped with all the tools and resources to check any limitations or formulate fixes specifically for Outlook.

If the above solutions do not work, you may reach Outlook.com team by following these steps:

    1. Go to https://outlook.live.com and sign into your account.
    2. Click the Help tab.
    3. Select Help on the ribbon.
    4. In the Help pane on the right side of the search box, type Contact Support.
    5. Click the Yes button below the "Still need help?" prompt.
    6. Click the Chat with a support representative option and follow the on-screen instructions.

I hope my explanation and description can help you.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Hardyjoe.J|Microsoft Community Support Specialist
