Syncing Outlook 365 Calendar with iPhone Calendar

My two calendars (iPhone and Outlook 365) have been syncing without problem until I installed Microsoft Personal in July. Prior to that I was using Microsoft Family, but I simply did not need that, as there is just me. I have already asked Apple and they have checked all settings and cannot see any issue on their side. The only thing that has changed is the installation of this new software. Before, if I put an appointment in Calendar in my iPhone, it immediately showed up in my Outlook 365 Calendar, and vice versa. Now, it doesn't matter which way round I do the appointments, it no longer syncs. My iPhone still talks to Outlook 365 because my emails come through on both the Outlook 365 Mail and if I flag an email on the iPhone, it flags on the PC in Outlook 365 Mail. I really hope you can suggest what the problem is. Thanks so much.

Hi Chris, I apologise for the delay in responding to your advice. To answer your questions, I went from my expiring M365 Family to M365 Personal. That is when the problem started, but I can't work out why.

    1. The email suffix is bigpond.com which is an Australian Telstra entity. I have been with them for >20 years and never had a problem.
    2. The mailbox is for personal use.
    3. The method of joining M365 Outlook to my email account is IMAP?SMTP.

I believe I have the latest versions. My iphone is always up to date with the latest software releases. My PC has regular Windows and other Microsoft updates. My version of M365 is presumably the latest, as I only bought the subscription card in July and installed it as soon as the Family one expired.

Things you have asked me to try:

    "1. Reconfigure your account:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Add Account. Then select “Exchange” and sign in to your Outlook 365 account again, and then reconfigure the account with M365 Outlook.". If I put my email address into Exchange, do I have to delete/remove it from where it is at present? The current settings are pop.telstra.com (incoming) and smtp.telstra.com (outgoing). How would I know what the settings should be in Exchange, or would it just populate automatically? If I delete and re-add my email account on my iphone, will I lose data? I have a number of email addresses and at present all the emails come in on my phone and also on the pc in Outlook 365. Do I just need to move the one email address (ie the apple log on and Microsoft log on) to Exchange, or do I have to move them all?

    2."2. Check the synchronization settings:

On your iPhone, make sure calendar synchronization is turned on. Go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts > select your Outlook account > make sure Calendar is turned on2. “is turned on." Yes, it is turned on.

    1. Check the default calendar:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Calendar > Default Calendar and make sure the correct Outlook calendar is selected." I have found the screen you refer to, but the list is "Time Zone Override"(Off), "Alternative Calendars"(Off) "Week Numbers" (off), "Week View Starts on Today"(off), "Show Invitee Declines" (On), "Sync" (All Events), "Default Alert Times " (none), "Duration for New Events" (1 hour), "Start Week on" (System setting Monday), "Location Suggestions" (On). Chris, I don't understand your question here.

I appreciate your help Chris, and look forward to hearing from you again.

    Dear ppf

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

According to your description, you went from M365 Home Edition to using the Personal Edition of the product, and now the calendars of iPhone and 365 Outlook cannot be synchronized.

I need to confirm some information with you regarding your issue:

    1. What is the suffix of the e-mail account you are using? (Outlook/Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo)
    2. Is your mailbox for corporate/school use or personal use?
    3. What is the method of joining M365 for your mailbox account (POP/imap, Exchange)?

In fact, if you are switching from M365 Home Edition to Personal Edition there is no correlation with this issue, in your case you can try the following process to troubleshoot:

Confirm whether the version of your M365 and Iphone is the latest version, if there is no problem with the version, perform the following process:

    1. Reconfigure your account:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Add Account. Then select “Exchange” and sign in to your Outlook 365 account again, and then reconfigure the account with M365 Outlook.

    1. Check the synchronization settings:

On your iPhone, make sure calendar synchronization is turned on. Go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts > select your Outlook account > make sure Calendar is turned on2. “is turned on.

    1. Check the default calendar:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Calendar > Default Calendar and make sure the correct Outlook calendar is selected.

Meanwhile, you can test whether you can synchronize with Outlook by downloading and installing it on your iPhone. If it still doesn't work, there may be an issue with the new style of account verification, in which case you need to refer to the link:Modern Authentication Methods now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in non-Microsoft email apps - Microsoft Support

Feel free to text back if you need further help.

    Best wishes
