    Hello ADM David Hogg,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community!

I understand that you'd like to delay the sending of your emails in the new Outlook, similar to how you could set up a delay in the classic version. It sounds like you've been used to using a specific rule in the old Outlook, but it's currently unavailable in the new interface, which can certainly be frustrating.

In the new Outlook, while the specific rule option may be limited, you can still delay emails by using the “Schedule Send” feature, which allows you to schedule a specific time to send an email. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Compose your email as usual.
    2. Instead of hitting "Send," look for the "Schedule Send" option (typically found next to the "Send" button).
    3. Set the date and time you would like the email to be sent.

This feature allows you to delay any email you’re working on without needing to set a permanent rule.

Undo Send Feature: This feature allows you to delay sending emails for up to 10 seconds after you hit send. Here’s how to set it up:

    • Click on the Settings icon (gear) in the upper right corner.
    • Go to Mail > Compose and reply.
    • Scroll down to the Undo send section.
    • Choose how long you want Outlook to wait before sending your messages (up to 10 seconds).
    • Click Save.

After you send an email, an "Undo" button will appear for the specified time, allowing you to cancel if needed.

Creating a Rule for Delaying All Emails:

If you're looking for a longer delay (up to 120 minutes), unfortunately, this feature is not directly available in the new Outlook interface.

However, if you're looking for an automatic delay on all sent emails, currently, this specific rule is under review for the new Outlook, and Microsoft is working on adding more of these functionalities.

However, if you revert to using classic Outlook or if you're using Outlook on Windows, you can create a rule as follows:

    • Click on File, then select Manage Rules & Alerts.
    • Choose New Rule and select Apply rule on messages I send.
    • When prompted about conditions, simply click Next without selecting any conditions (this will apply to all sent messages).
    • In the actions list, select defer delivery by a number of minutes, and specify your desired delay time.
    • Name your rule and ensure it is turned on before finishing.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation. Have a great day!

    Sincerely,

Md Ashabul Haque | Microsoft Community Moderator

I am very happy to hear that it worked for you. Keep in mind that since the new outlook is still in active development, Microsoft is constantly working to improve its products and add many new features to the new outlook. I suggest you take a look at the Microsoft Outlook blog Things to expect in the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Community Hub or the Microsoft 365 roadmap | Microsoft 365 for any feature updates. In the meantime, I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will relay your feedback to the appropriate team for consideration in future updates. If you rely heavily on these features, you may want to consider exiting the new preview of Outlook for Windows for now. I'll also update here once I get additional information and the specific timeline for the feature will be added. I suggest you contact the new Outlook for Windows at the application support team for this new Outlook issue:

Contact support and provide feedback on the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support

I tried the proposed solution and I was able to configure it. But in the legacy outlook there was an option to do it. Microsoft should reconstruct the new outlook and add the mandatory features like the old one. Thanks for your help
