    Hi, Kenneth Alexander1

Thanks for the description, it seems that you have a problem with your Outlook profile that is causing you some unpredictable problems with MAPI (which is enabled by default). For now, I hope you can go ahead and create a new profile to try and fix the problem.

    Close Outlook

Make sure Outlook is completely closed before continuing.

    Open the Control Panel:

Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type "control" and press Enter to open the Control Panel.

    or

Type "Control Panel" in the search bar.

    Open Mail settings for me

In Control Panel, find and click Mail (you may need to switch the display to "Small Icons" or "Large Icons" to see this option).

    View Profiles

In the Email Settings window, click the View Profiles button.

    Add a new profile

Click the Add button in the Profiles window.

Enter a name for your new profile (e.g., "OutlookTest") and click OK.

To set up an email account:

Follow the prompts to set up your email account in the new profile. You'll need to enter your email address, password, and any server settings, if necessary. If you're using Outlook or Hotmail, your server settings are automatically detected, and all you need to do is enter your Microsoft address and password.

    Set profile as default:

Once you've created the new profile, you may want to set it as the default profile. Select the new profile and choose Always use this profile in the "When starting Microsoft Outlook" section.

    To open Outlook:

Launch Outlook. It should now start with the new profile. Test to see if the issues are resolved.

I know this may not solve your problem immediately, but I need to know more about your situation so that I can help you better, please understand. If you have found anything else worth mentioning, please contact me and tell me, I would be happy to solve the problem with you, thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

    Best regards

    Dear Rich Bovie

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I have understood that you want to enable MAPI.

Here's the thing, if you are using an email address from a Microsoft domain (Outlook, Hotmail, live, msn), then this MAPI is enabled by default, and you don't have to do anything.

If you're in a corporate environment, your IT department may have specific configurations for your account or use a different protocol. Contact them to confirm MAPI support and any required settings.

If you are using third-party e-mail addresses such as Gmail, because MAPI is designed specifically for email addresses that use the Exchange protocol, they cannot use MAPI, so there is no way to enable MAPI for them.

I hope this answer can be helpful and clear your doubts, I look forward to hearing from you, and of course if you still have any doubts on this issue, you can contact me anytime and thank you for your cooperation.

    Sincere greetings
