Hi, I have had Hotmail as a part of my iPhone mail app for years and all of a sudden it is not receiving emails. I reset the passwords and tried deleting the account and re-adding it which didn’t work!

    Dear Emma Robertson,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

After reading, I have a general idea of your problem. I think your problem is related to the fact that basic Outlook authentication has been deprecated and this is the last public announcement from Microsoft.

Modern authentication methods are now required to continue synchronizing Outlook email with non-Microsoft email apps - Microsoft Support

I would like to know what your current version of iOS is. The system or application may be an older version that does not support accounts that use reauthentication.

Update your iOS version to the latest version and, using the latest version of Apple Mail, add your account following instructions below again and see if the issue is resolved.

    On iPhone,

    1. Go to Settings > Email.
    2. Tap Accounts, then tap Add Account.
    3. In the Add Account dialog box, choose Outlook.com.

If removing and re-entering your account doesn't resolve the issue, do the following:

    1. Remove the account again.
    2. Go to Settings > Safari and tap Clear History and Website Data.
    3. Restart your iPhone.
    4. Add the account again and proceed with the account sign-in flow Outlook.com.

Of course, if you're still having trouble adding your Hotmail account in Apple Mail, you can also download the latest version of the Outlook app for iOS, or even use Outlook web.

Please feel free to contact me if there are any further updates on this issue, I am here to help you further if needed.

    Best regards

I use native Apple Mail on my iPhone for all my accounts, work, gmail, outlook, yahoo, etc. Some are oldies but goodies. I did NOT delete my Hotmail account (to preserve the old messages). I just added it again using Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Outlook.com. It may be a pain in the neck to go between the two but at least I didn't lose anything and can now see newer messages.

    Dear Chris Speechly,

Thank you for reporting this issue in the Microsoft Community.

I researched your question and found that this could be a known issue. Some users are experiencing the same problem as you and report that the "note" folder is missing after resetting their accounts in Apple Mail.

Back in the day, when your account was configured as IMAP or POP, Apple Mail mistakenly recognized the notes feature as a folder, so these notes were displayed in the format of an email, and you could even move your emails to a note. Now your hotmail is connected to outlook.com, these files are not correctly recognized as a note, so you see an inaccessible note in the notes folder in outlook.com

(while you can probably still find them through the search function).

Have you tried moving the emails you are looking for in the notes folder directly to your other mail folders?

This could be a design issue of Apple Mail. For now, I recommend you share this issue with the development team, you can choose Feedback from the Help tab of the Outlook ribbon in https://outlook.live.com to report this issue or click on this link Ideas · Community (microsoft.com) and also seek help from Apple.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I'm here to help you if needed.

    Sincerely,

Appears that I’ve recovered my email.

Sadly I’ve managed to delete my Notes folder. Anyway to recover that?
