    Hi Thomas Morris1,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

The message you're seeing in Microsoft Outlook regarding a "metered connection" indicates that your device is connected to a network which may impose additional charges, such as a mobile data connection. Here are my suggestions to improve the problem and allow Outlook to work online:

    Check Network Settings

    • Go to Settings on your device.
    • Navigate to Network & Internet (or similar, depending on your OS).
    • Look for the Wi-Fi or Mobile data section depending on your connection type.
    • If you're on Wi-Fi, click on the connected network and see if the Metered connection option is toggled on. If so, turn it off.
    • For mobile data, you may also want to check that the metered connection settings are appropriate for your usage.

    Disable Offline Mode:

    • Open Outlook.
    • Go to the Send/Receive tab on the ribbon.
    • Check if the Work Offline option is activated. If it is, click on it to disable offline mode.

    Reconnect to a Non-metered Network:

    • If possible, connect to a non-metered network, such as a home Wi-Fi network, to use Outlook without restrictions.

    Update Your Device:

    • Ensure your operating system and Microsoft Office (including Outlook) are updated to the latest version. Sometimes updates can fix connection-related issues.

    Contact Your Network Administrator:

    • If you're on a managed network (like in a company), check with your IT department or network administrator to see if there are any settings in place regarding metered connections.

Thank you for your patience and support.😊

I wish you all the best
