    Hi Julia Gaeta,

Good day! Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community. We will be happy to assist you.

From your description, I understand that you would like to send encrypted emails to your clients. Can I verify are you using a Microsoft business account, personal account (outlook.com/hotmail.com/live.com) or a third-party account? If it is a personal account, please reply to this message and we will engage dedicated team for further check.

This thread is applied to Outlook/Windows/New Outlook for Windows/For business. New Outlook supports Microsoft 365 Message Encryption as long as your email server has an Office 365 Enterprise E3 license. S/MIME encryption will be supported starting in Fall 2024.

If you have required license assigned to your account, please find details below to send encrypted messages.

    1. In an email message, choose Options, and then select Encrypt.
    2. Pick the encryption that has the restrictions you want to enforce, such as Encrypt-Only or Do Not Forward.
    3. Finish composing your email and then choose Send.

You can as well refer to this official article for more details or you are using Classic Outlook: Send encrypted email messages in Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support

Please let us know if there is any concern or further question to be addressed. We will be glad to help you!

I would appreciate your precious time and cooperation!

    Sincerely

    Luckie Shi | Community moderator.

    Hi,

I'd like to send secure emails, such as encrypted or password protected.

    This is a personal account.

    How can I do that?

    Thanks.

    Matt

I have the same question. I need to be able to encrypt messages that I send to clients; however, I am using Microsoft 365 Personal. I do not mind upgrading to a business plan, but, I do not have any other employees. It is just me in the company. I have looked into the Office E3 plans but that seems excessive since it is just me in the 'business'. I am a mental health provider and send therapy notes to caseworkers, placement agencies and attorneys. I just need to encrypt the email, I do not need all the other stuff that the enterprise plans offer. I am open to upgrading my plan, I just do not want to get one that offers way more than I could possibly need.

    Hi!

How does the recipient unencrypt the message to read it? Does this work to send messages to people outside your domain and on other email clients besides Microsoft (such as gmail)?
