I can't access my blueyonder emails through outlook. I get an error code.

In 2015 I received an email to say that my blueyonder email address was an alias of outlook.com and would now be managed on the outlook platform. My blueyonder emails have never appeared in my outlook inbox. I've used blueyonder as an email address for 20 years plus. It works on other mail apps but not outlook. My daughter has spent the last week trying to tidy up my emails and has concerns that because I've moved house and am no longer a virgin media account holder, how I would amend the password if my email was hacked.

She's been trying to install the new outlook on my old laptop which is failing. She has M365 family edition but blueyonder emails won't pull through on outlook. She gets an error code

She's therefore had to trawl through 14,000 emails to notify I'm switching to outlook.com

There is a banner on my laptop saying windows mail app software is going 31st December 2024 and to switch to new outlook but the emails won't pull through and we can't make the switch work for this either, not old outlook or new outlook. How do we maintain or close the blueyonder account, if we can't access it, to make sure we don't have a cyber criminal takeover the account?!

Troubleshooting Details if you contact your administrator, send this info to them.

    Dear M. Rowlands

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the Community.

Based on your description, it should actually be pretty clear.

Ultimately, your question is still how to configure Blueyonder mailbox on Outlook.

I can understand that you want to use Blueyonder mailbox on Outlook as soon as possible.

According to the error report you posted before, my suggestion is that you need to confirm whether the data is migrated to Outlook or not, if it is migrated over, what is the new mailbox after it is migrated over? If it is not migrated, but just cooperated with Microsoft, is the account protocol type of Blueyonder mailbox Exchange protocol? For these questions, you need to contact the mailbox administrator of Blueyonder mailbox.

If it's just Exchange protocol, the configuration error message posted earlier, it's obvious that you chose the wrong protocol, that's why I'll confirm with you earlier if it's imap, pop, Exchange protocol, when you configure the mailbox, you need to choose the correct protocol to configure it successfully.

If the data is migrated, then the migrated new Outlook mailbox, your mother should know, if not you can also check the mailbox by contacting the Blueyonder mailbox mailbox administrator, these are the privacy of the enterprise, Microsoft does not have the authority to check.

    Best wishes

I am sorry but I don't know how I can resolve this from your reply to me.

I have looked again at the original email in my outlook box and it came from outlook saying that blueyonder would be my alias account and I asked Chat GPT for clarification. Blueyonder email addresses were originally provided by Telewest, which later became part of Virgin Media. Virgin Media continued to support blueyonder email addresses for users who had them, even as the company evolved its services. Eventually, these email addresses were migrated to the Outlook.com platform ( in 2015) for continued functionality. We have no way of accessing the blueyonder mailbox as my mother is no longer a Virgin media customer because Virgin couldn't install equipment at her new home and I don't think we've ever been able to receive these emails through outlook, despite what the welcome email promised.

My understanding is that we should be able to access everything related to blueyonder via outlook, but we can't.

I'm asking this on behalf of my mother as she needs my assistance.

    Dear M. Rowlands

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the Community.

I'd like to start by talking to you about aliases in regards to the problem you're describing.

You received an email saying that blueyonder is an alias for an outlook address, and that this alias means an alias for logging into your account, which means that you can log into your Microsoft account with a blueyonder email address. However, you need to know that blueyonder mailbox is your own blueyonder mailbox and not the Microsoft account mailbox, they are not one mailbox. Because mailboxes are unique, you have this mailbox on blueyonder side, then it's just a virtual mailbox inside your Microsoft account, it has nothing to do with your real existing mailbox. You can understand that it is just a mailbox used to log in Microsoft account, and your blueyonder mailbox is operated by your real mailbox, not the alias mailbox.

So your problem is actually that blueyonder mailbox cannot be configured on new outlook or classic outlook.

For your feedback that the configuration encounters the error Error Tag: 9hehwError Code: 0, when you configure your mailbox, choose imap or pop settings, and then enter your mailbox parameters, and check if the error still occurs.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best wishes
