Hi

I've tried to move all my outlook emails to gmail. The import mail option from gmail didint work as i got as authentication error saying my outlook mail is opened in another browser which isnt the case.

So i added both my gmail and outlook accounts in desktop outlook and copied all mails (inbox and all folders) to gmail.

In the desktop outlook app, all gmails look ok.

But on mobile app, they dont have right formatting - all HTML formatting is gone. And more importantly, some of the email attachments show up as winmail, dat in mobile app. Same email has the right attachment in desktop outlook.

is there a way to get all my outlook emails with attachments to gmail and access them via android or ios app on mobiles?

I also tried export pst option and importing it - same result. Gmail mobile app doesnt show attachments for certain emails.

    Thanks for your reply.

Email formats and attachment types have compatibility issues on different platforms.

You can refer to this document: Migrate from Outlook to Google Workspace - Google Workspace Admin Help

I can recommend you a third-party tool, but I can't guarantee that it will work. You can try using a third-party tool like Aid4Mai to help you migrate emails and preserve formatting.

    Dear Anbu Shanmugam, hello!

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

According to your description, you want to migrate Outlook emails with attachments to Gmail and access them in the Gmail mobile app. I understand your feelings.

Such problems are usually related to the email format (such as RTF format) and the attachment encoding (such as winmail.dat). If you send emails in RTF format in the Outlook desktop app, most mobile apps cannot handle this format, resulting in the attachment becoming a winmail.dat file.

To ensure that the email format and attachments are displayed correctly in Gmail, it is recommended to follow the steps below:

    1. Change Outlook settings:

    Open Classic Outlook.

Go to "File" > "Options" > "Mail".

In the "Compose mail" section, set "Compose mail in this format" to "HTML" or "Plain text".

In the "Mail format" section, set "When sending RTF mail to Internet recipients" to "Convert to HTML format".

    2. Clear Outlook's auto-complete cache:

    Open Outlook.

Go to "File" > "Options" > "Mail".

In the Send Mail section, tap Clear Auto-Complete List.

    3. Use a third-party app:

There are third-party tools that can help you better migrate emails and keep the message formatting and attachments intact. Install an app or online tool on your mobile device that can open winmail.dat files or convert winmail.dat files to their original attachment format.

If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know.

    Best regards

Thanks for your reply. The issue is not with how the new emails are sent in outlook. The emails that were sent to my outlook account shows ok on both desktop outlook and mobile. But when i migrate those mails to gmail, the formatting is lost in the mobile app.

What 3rd party tools are better for migrating emails? anything that you recommend?
