Forgot password on a new outlook account

I recently created a new personal email through outlook and have only logged in twice. I have forgotten the password to this account but cannot make it through the account recovery process. I get an error message stating that I have not provided sufficient information for my identity to be verified. The account recovery is asking for purchase histories and the recipient addresses and subject lines of emails I've sent. It's a brand new account. I have sent no emails and made no purchases through it. I am not sure what else to do. Any suggestions? I'd really like to keep the email address I set up instead of just creating a new account.

    Hi

You haven't answered the question. I've seen this standard answer from you a couple of times to the same type of question and it doesn't address the issue. What can people do if they haven't set up a recovery or authentication process? If it's nothing, and they've lost that account, please just say. And when would it become available again?

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Hi Gunasekar,

Thank you for your prompt response, and I apologize for my delayed reply. Because this was a new email address, I had not yet set up a recovery email or phone number. As such, I can't simply reset my password. I had tried the account recovery form several times, but it was deemed that I did not have enough information to verify that the account was mine. A component of the account recovery form is to put in the subject lines and email addresses of emails that I have sent, but again, since it was a new account, I had not yet sent any emails. I am able to list an email that I have received, but I did not send an email.

I have been through the password reset help page, the account recovery help page, the verify your identity help page, and the get help chat bot. I am desperate for a phone number that I can call so that I can speak to a real human because I cannot access this account through the means presented on the website. Is there anything else I should try? Can you please share a phone number I can call?

Hello PAT502! I'm Gunasekar and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

I understand that you are having trouble resetting your Microsoft account password.

    1. Do you no longer have access to your Recovery e-mail address or Phone number to confirm your Identity?

You can reset your Password quickly using the recovery methods.

    1. Go to https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx to reset your password.
    2. Enter your username (email address) and click Next.
    3. Verify your identity.
    4. Get a verification code.
    5. Enter the code and reset the password.

If you no longer have access to the Recovery methods, then you have no other choice other than verifying your Identity through the Recovery form.

On the Verify your Identity screen, select "I don't have any of these", and follow the instructions to replace your security info. If you do, your account will be put into restricted state for 30 days.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N
