In outlook.office.com/calendar I have to give spammers information and acknowledge that I read their spam just to remove a calendar entry!?? This is unacceptable...
How can I delete an event from my outlook calendar without declining it?
Hi. I am a grad student. We occasionally get invitations to seminars, talks, and such. It clutters my calendar and I want a more focused calendar where I have events that I actually will attend. But, I don't want to reject these invitations that are added to my calendar by the grad council.
- Is there a way to delete them from my calendar without declining?
In new outlook, I cannot delete them without declining. When I click on delete, I am given two options: delete & decline, and cancel. There is no option to delete it without declining as far as I know. In old outlook, I can delete events without declining. However, when I switch back to the new version of outlook, I still see the events there.
- Is there a way to change the settings so the invitations don't stick to my calendar automatically?
That can also solve the problem. I am adding all the rest of the events to my calendar manually anyway. The only things I am not interested in are the things that are automatically added to my calendar. So, switching off this option can also solve my problem, but this also needs to be done without saying "I don't want your invitations" out loud.
Best,
Hebelehubele

2025-01-23T14:58:15+00:00 It's nice to know after two years of "new" outlook that it still doesn't have feature parity with Outlook "Classic". Reasons like this and they wonder why people are so obstinate about updating. So some rando from the internet (aka ******@google.com) spams my calendar with an appt and I have to leave it there? Even though I have email on strict and it doesn't make it to my inbox, junk and deleted emails still add these jerks calendar appts and I can't remove them. Smooth.
Maybe in a year or so they will figure it out. For now keep your copy of Classic around or use another program to get rid of these annoyances.

2025-05-26T19:33:19+00:00 Hi all,
Just wanted to add my voice here — this is absolutely a feature I need.
I do not want to be forced to send a response to spammers just to remove an event from my calendar. Sending a decline can confirm to spammers that my email address is valid, which only encourages more spam. It's a basic privacy and security concern.
Also, I want to keep my calendar clean and focused without having to notify people for every seminar or auto-added invite that I choose not to attend — especially when they're sent en masse or added without my consent.
Please bring back the ability to delete calendar events without sending a response in the new Outlook. It’s a crucial feature for both usability and spam protection.
Thanks,

2025-05-20T16:46:51+00:00 There is a strong increase with this behavior of phishing emails latching onto an account using this trick (invites auto add to calendar AND the inability to delete without decline notice). This is becoming a major security issue and Microsoft should consider it a high priority in order to provide better security for their users/clients. This is a major loophole.
So, please MSFT rep, be an advocate of adding the ability to "delete without declining" and do so with high priority and conviction. Thank you.
