Dear Thomas Chin,
Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting in the Microsoft Support Community.
I realise that you are having problems accessing your old school email address, I am acutely aware that this account is very important to you, please point out if I have misunderstood.
- ‘Your old school alumni email address has been deactivated, rendering you unable to view / receive any emails from that address.’ . ——If this mailbox has been deactivated then as your old school says, any emails sent to that old school mailbox will not be received and will be bounced back to the sender. The sender should receive a bounced email that that email address does not exist.
- ‘You are concerned that you are losing important emails sent to that old school email address. Is it possible to forward emails sent to that old school email address to your current personal email address? Or is it possible to open a new email address using the same old school email address?’ ——For the forwarding function, if your old school mailbox send/receive function is normal and the mailbox has the permission to send emails to external addresses, you can turn on the forwarding function to forward the incoming emails to your personal mailbox, but your old school mailbox is deactivated, which means that when the emails are in the process of transferring, they will not enter the your mailbox's server, so there is no forwarding operation when none of the emails can be delivered.
Also, you may not be able to open a new email address using the same old school email address. This is because for the school email address, the same address will be renamed. For the personal account, it is separate from the school account from each other, they are two different address accounts, even if someone sends an email to your school account, the personal account will not receive it.
- You will no longer be able to receive any updated emails from your school email address. I understand your predicament very well because you have several important accounts associated with that email address, and by not being able to access that old school email address, you will not be able to set any type of passwords for them in the future. You can try to refer to the official support article for the corresponding account or contact technical support at the relevant email provider to try to change the binding information or security verification method.
Reading this far, thank you so much for your patience. If you don't understand any of the above explanations, you can contact Microsoft Online Support.
