How to delete old email account from outlook app

I've seen support tell others to find the settings icon, but I don't have that. When I open the app, I see "add account" and "create new account." When I click add account, it immediately takes me to my old email account to add, and that's it. I don't have any option to remove it or add the new account I'm looking to use.

We have customers who cant login in the Outlook App. The Outlook App sho: "Incorrect configuration warning: Your organization's support team would like you to log in with this account: old M365 account. However, you have tried to log in with the current M365 account."

    Point 1:

It would be nice if this option exist. Some Customers have the problem after an iOS Update, the outlook App is disconnected and they must Sign-In again. The Outlook App cancel this action with the comment that the users ar already logged in with an old TenantID and want to connect with the actual Account. But before the iOS-Update, they used the Outlook App with the actual account.

Even if you delete all Microsoft apps from the iPhone, Outlook still thinks that there is an old login. Auch der über den Edge-Browser edge://signin-internals in Edge iOS and click RemoveAllAccounts wont remove the old Microsoft login. So there always seems to be a residual Microsoft login on the device.

What other way is there to completely remove the Outlook logins on the iPhone if you are not logged into the Outlook app (as this is not possible at the time)?

Please add a reset point, which is accessible from the iPhone settings, as it is available for the Teams app (Setting -> Apps -> Teams -> Delete App Data).

The only workaround which worked is to reset to factory the iPhone. However, this cannot be offered to any customer, as it is obviously a remnant of the Microsoft login.

    Kind regards.

    Dear Jeffrey Stirling,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

Based on your post regarding "How to delete old email account from outlook app".To understand the situation and be able to offer you relevant suggestions, we would need a little more information from you. Kindly help us in providing the following information.

    • Are you using Microsoft365 business account(@xxx.onmicrosoft.com/@yourdomain.com) or personal account (which is ended with outlook.com/hotmail.com/live.com/msn.com) or some other 3rd party pop/imap account?

In the meantime, please try the following troubleshooting:

    1. Reset the Outlook App

    • Open the Settings app on your iOS device (not the Outlook app itself).
    • Scroll down and find Outlook in the list of installed apps.
    • Tap Outlook, then select Reset Account Settings (if available). This option may clear cached credentials and preferences.

    2. Remove and Reinstall the App

    • Press and hold the Outlook app icon on your home screen.
    • Select Remove App, then choose Delete App to uninstall it.
    • Reinstall the app from the App Store: Search for "Microsoft Outlook" and download it again.
    • After reinstalling: Open the app and set it up from scratch. You should now have the option to add your new account.

    3. Check for Cached Data on Your iPhone

    • Go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts.
    • Look for the old email account. If it's listed, remove it:
    • Tap on the account and choose Delete Account.
    • Restart your phone, then open the Outlook app again.

I hope the above information will be helpful. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other concern or if I get you wrong. Glad to assist you.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation. Thanks for your precious time!

    Sincerely

Thanks Eleni, however, none of these options are available to me. 1) "Reset account settings" doesn't exist on my iphone (I have a 15 pro max). 2) Tried this already, doesn't fix the issue. 3) there is no "passwords & accounts" option
