Outlook Search Results display as "Unread" even when they are "Read".

When I search in Outlook, all results display as being "unread" even when they are actually "read". I do search for "All", but even when I toggle from "All" to "Unread" the results and their read status do not change. In the two uploaded (I hope) screengrabs, you'll see "Test 2" has been read while "Test 1" has not been read. However, when you look at the second screengrab of the search results, BOTH "Test 1" & "Test 2" appear as "unread", even though I have "All" chosen as a filter. It does me no good to search and get results with all showing "unread". I really need there to be a differentiation shown so I don't waste time opening a bunch of emails I've already read.

I'm using Outlook 2016 at work. It's not the web version. What other info can I provide to enable anyone to give direction to correct this issue?

    Dear A-Roberts,

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. We have a hot problem as below details for reference:

Microosft has published an official article on this known issue, please refer to this link:

Outlook 2016 MSI isn't showing the sender in search results - Microsoft Support.

    QUESTION

As of January 16, 2025, Outlook 2016 MSI has stopped showing the sender in search results, and the search results appear as unread.

For example, when you search your inbox with Outlook 2016, you find that the sender is not showing up in the From column in the reading pane search results, as shown below. The search results also appear as unread.

    STATUS: INVESTIGATING

The Outlook team is investigating this issue.

If you need to work around the issue urgently, you can temporarily disable service search.

    WORKAROUND

Temporarily disable Server-Assisted Search, and Outlook would return to the legacy Windows Desktop Search, with the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\policies\Microsoft\office\16.0\outlook\search DWORD: DisableServerAssistedSearch Value: 1

    I hope the information helps!

At the same time, you could vote on this reply so other users who have the same problem can find this thread and know the updated information. That would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

Your patience, understanding, and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely
