Dear Microsoft Team,
It seems unfathomable that a company as established and innovative as Microsoft would release a new version of Outlook by eliminating fundamental features. One glaring issue is the incompatibility between Microsoft's flagship application, Word, and the new version of Outlook. This problem is particularly frustrating for users like myself (and many others with the same issue I see online) who compose emails in Word (including text and images) and then copy-paste them into Outlook New—only to find that the images do not render.
As someone who has worked in technology for my entire career, I find it completely unacceptable for a company of Microsoft’s stature to release a product with such regressions. For example, critical keyboard shortcuts are missing—why remove functionality that users rely on? Shouldn’t the developers of Outlook New have started with the proven and familiar behavior of Outlook Classic as a baseline, then built improvements from there? Instead, Outlook New feels like a downgrade, and I fear that the deprecation of Outlook Classic is inevitable.
Here are my suggestions for improvement:
- Rename Outlook New to Outlook Lite to better reflect its reduced feature set.
- Address this fundamental shortcoming—allow users to paste text and images seamlessly into Outlook New. This is a basic expectation for modern email communication software.
Microsoft has long been a leader in software innovation. Please do not let this release diminish your reputation by prioritizing change over quality. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and prioritize restoring critical functionality to ensure that Outlook New meets the standards users expect from Microsoft.
Sincerely,
David
