why can't I drag and drop emails in new outlook

I just got a new computer. It's forcing New Outlook on me with no option to revert to Classic - even though there's an option for that.

I have folders in my root email that I use to sort messages from several accounts. Now I can't drag and drop messages into those folders.

I can't seem to find a work around for this basic functionality.

Is there any plan to return this very basic function?

It was bad enough when they took away combined inboxes - but if I have to have folders under every account? This app will become useless to me.

I am very disappointed with the decision to take away the drag & drop feature on the new Outlook. I have to use this feature over 100 times a day to save emails in our CRM. To save each one on my desktop then upload it would destroy my productivity. Whoever allowed this to happen should be terminated. I like the look of the new platform and several other features and as much as I love to move forward with technology, you'll be forcing me to go back to the old version.

    2 thumbs down.

I was double checking to see if it was April 1st, but I am sure you were kidding when you said the drag and drop feature is not available. That would be a fire-able offense if a developer neglected to include that functionality, and every alpha and beta tester involved in the product would be discharged.

So again, where is the setting to turn on the ability to drag and drop emails into folders in Outlook?

Alright, hoping someone from Microsoft will read this, I think the issue is that the New Outlook is saving emails as .eml which the computer recognizes as 'possibly harmful' and therefore doesn't attach to anything without popping up this error... in OUTLOOK!

The old Outlook saved everything as .msg which had no issue attaching through drag and drop.

If you take an email though, click "save as" and then select ".msg" the file you will get has no issue attaching as it should.

I think the solution then is for Microsoft to give us a 'preference' setting to say save emails as .msg or .eml

If they are TWO DIFFERENT programs, why are they being presented as the same thing only "upgraded". And why is the option to switch between the two presented as an option that no longer works?

Does Microsoft really expect long time customers to just shrug and say "oh well"? Of course they do, but to have to have a long and lengthy process on HOW TO GO BACK is poor community support.

Thank you for the links, but this should not even be an issue.

Amy, I had the same problem but believe it or not I hit the escape key three or four times and suddenly I could drag and drop again. Note that you get no feedback after hitting the escape key, but for whatever reason drag and drop mysteriously starts working again. I am not saying there is not an underlying issue, because surely this isn't intended behavior, but it has worked for me since I did that. :)
