Why is my phone not receiving verification codes?

Hi I would like to change my password but I need to receive a verification code to my phone. When I confirm the last four digits I never receive a text. I can’t use the alternative method of a code to an alternative email as I no longer have that email address. And I don’t want to lose access to my account for 30 days. Why is my phone not receiving the verification code?

    Dear Hannah Johnson,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I have been following your issue closely. I understand that you are encountering problems when receiving verification codes.

The current method we have summarized as an alternative for handling phones that have not received verification codes is to place your SIM card in a trusted person’s phone to attempt to receive your verification code. The purpose of this is to replace the IP of your device.

Are you trying to override the two-factor authentication information? Another method is to select that you do not have any of the aforementioned authentication information when you click on “Manage,” which will take you to a new page. After entering new security information, you will have a 30-day waiting period.

What does “Security info change is still pending” mean? - Microsoft Support

At the end of the 30 days, your two-factor authentication information will be changed.

We recommend adding more than two security messages. If you do not receive a verification code, this will provide you with alternative methods to replace the verification code.

If you still cannot receive the verification code, or if you are eager to resolve the issue, you can contact an online agent who can address your problem.
