How to setup the NEW Outlook to use the desktop default app to open links

Hello there,

I'm using the NEW Outlook, (version 1.2025.516.400 (Production)), and I'm having problems when trying to open a hyperlink to other Office365 files (Power Point, Excel, Word).

The system are redirecting to the browser, instead of the default Desktop app. And this is very annoying because every time I open it, I need to

I've searched all options available in the Cogwheel button (Top Right Corner of the window), but none has the solution to my problem.

I also tried to Right click on the hyperlink, but no option to set the Desktop App as the default.

The files in question are stored in our internal Share Point / Teams domain.

Appreciate the help

Cheers

Gabriel

    Hi Hoang-D,

How long will it be until this feature is applied for the new outlook? Will settings need to be changed by the org admin or will it automatically update to capture all new outlook users once deployed?

Sad to hear that's (for now) that's no other way.

Looking forward to see that improvement.

    Kind Regards
