This is really an answer, since it took me a while to find it, I thought I'd share. First click on the settings gear on the upper right of the Outlook window.

In the settings, select mail and then smart suggestions. You can turn off either Suggested replies, Text predictions, or both.

Hi,

This was driving me crazy, too... and like you, un-selecting text predictions in mail settings did NOT work... however, I FINALLY figured out that if you go to Editor (in Outlook: easiest to find on the right side of the tool bar if you start a new message) and select "editor settings" there is ANOTHER auto-fill option there. I un-selected that auto-fill and it seems to actually (finally be off!). I can think and write! I hope this works for others.

    This is wonderful but wrong.

I have this setting turned off but I still get text predictions. Any help would be appreciated. It's awful and I cannot think and compose while some AI is running words ahead of my thought. And I do not want to keep taking my fingers from the keyboard to hit the tab key.

Help! Save me from this AI nonsense!

    Bertrand,

There are quite a few posts in the community about this issue. Each and every thread I saw about the issue is locked, included a reply from an "official account" professing empathy, and providing no satisfactory answer. I'm not sure if what I posted above was a late add to the new Microsoft, but it sure would have been nice if I could find an answer to easy questions like this without spending an hour searching.

My suggestion would be that when somebody posts a question like this, any person from an official account who decides to reply should perform a little research first. The posts from the Microsoft Team expressing empathy along with standard requests for more information are condescending and frustrating. I posted this "question" with the exact header wording hoping I could save time for the next person encountering the same issue.

Don't take this personally, but if you're wondering if this process works without issue, I suggest you take five minutes and test it rather than creating a bulleted list of the instructions I provided.

    Thanks,

    Rick

I have the annual Microsoft 360 Subscription for a desktop PC, so not sure how displays may show on other devices. Suggested Replies seems like a predictive text to me...they started showing up in my email about a month ago and only now have I been able to spend the time searching for a solution. Anyway, they are annoying...Microsoft must think people are getting dumber and cannot think on their own anymore. Anyway, if you want them gone, this was my solution for my particular setup. You have to do something different for the predictive texts option which are different for suggested replies option (took me a moment!).. While in Outlook, I had to go to the very Upper Left-hand corner of Outlook and select FILE, then select OPTIONS in the drop-down menu. That pops up an Outlook Options Menu. From there, select MAIL, scroll down until you find REPLIES AND FORWARDS. UN-CLICK the box that says (should be first option) SHOW SUGGESTED REPLIES.
