How to Remove "Classic" from the Outlook Search Bar

If you are like me and are okay with keeping outlook(classic) on your computer but do not want it appearing when you search outlook. Follow my guide.

    Copy this path:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog. In the prompt that appears, paste the copied path and press Enter.

Once File Explorer opens, use the search box in the top right corner and type:

    Outlook

You should see "Outlook (Classic)" listed.

To delete it, right-click and select Delete.

If you'd rather move it, click on it, press Ctrl + X to cut, find a folder to store it in, and press Ctrl + V to paste it there.

    That’s it — you’re good to go!

So let me get this straight Microsoft is installing a new version of Outlook with the 365 Copilot app - but now I cant install the old version?

Honestly - your creating bloatware. Nice work

It's way worse -- for me at least -- than the fact that by not providing a clean way to uninstall Outlook "Classic", that could be termed as creating bloat-ware.

Sometimes (possibly connected to a business email of a business I once worked for being an email sitting with the others in the Outlook Classic instance), I'll do some mouseclicks and suddenly I see a sign-in pop-up for that no-longer-in-use business account and Outlook Classic is firing up even though I've long since switched to New Outlook.

Then, due to some awful cross-pollination between New and Classic Outlook, bad things start happening while I scramble to terminate the Classic Outlook instance. A bunch of previously-read emails (sometimes a very large number) sitting in the Inbox folder of one email get transferred to the Junk folder for a different email.

Then I have to go through that Junk folder and decide which emails shouldn't be deleted -- I select those and drag those back to the folder they were auto-transferred from, while Outlook puts up a warning pop-up saying it seems suspicious that I'm dragging emails from one email account to another.

What a nightmare. I want to remove Classic Outlook, not to keep my machine fit-and-trim, but to stop Bugs from wasting my time.

    Dear Silver_Kitsune

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand you want to uninstall classic Outlook but can't find it.

Please note that classic Outlook cannot be uninstalled separately, it is installed with Microsoft 365/Office.

If you want to uninstall the entire classic Microsoft 365/Office, you can refer to: Uninstall Office from a PC - Microsoft Support

Please note that once you uninstall Microsoft 365/Office, Word/Excel/Powerpoint on your computer will also be unusable.

I hope the above information can help you.

    Kind Regards,

    Hardyjoe.J|Microsoft Community Support Specialist
