Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
Hello Cynthia_Moore
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I understand that the Outlook icon in your Windows 11 taskbar displays a red exclamation mark. Currently, your Outlook is sending and receiving emails normally.
Has the red exclamation mark icon in the upper right corner of your Outlook disappeared? If the abnormal status has disappeared, you do not need to take any action, which means that your account has been successfully re-linked and you mentioned that you are currently sending and receiving emails normally.
If it still appears in your Outlook icon, switch to different accounts on the left side of your software, and then check the account status on the lower right side. Normally, it will show connected/connected to Microsoft Exchange.
Common reasons for the red exclamation mark may be:
- Account synchronization is abnormal. The background synchronization of the mail account (such as Exchange, IMAP) fails due to password expiration, network abnormality, server connection failure, synchronization conflict, etc. The lower right corner of the software will always show "Connecting", but the connection cannot be successful, and the mail cannot be synchronized normally. You can log in to the account again or delete the account and reconfigure it. For example, if "Password required" is displayed in the lower right corner, double-click it to enter the password and log in again.
- Outlook's data file (PST/OST file) is slightly damaged. You can refer to the following document to create a new profile and reconfigure the account for viewing. Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support
I hope this information has been helpful to you. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help.
Sincere greetings
