Split from this thread.

What I don't understand is how can Microsoft screw up so simple thing that worked perfectly in the previous versions. It's been a year since this post was created and it was said by the Microsoft rep that the fix is rolling out in the next release. NOTHING.

I 've been at it for the past 2 hours and still not fixed. Frustrating to say the least.

@Sam Bryl: IF you are a user in a GCC (Government Community Cloud) tenant in M365-EXO, then this is a known issue and we still do not have a solution for it. It is documented here: Microsoft Editor is not available in new Outlook for GCC tenants - Microsoft Support - Let us know if this does not apply to you.

    Dear Sam Bryl,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the editor in the New Outlook for Windows. However, in order to understand the problem and provide possible solution, May I please double confirm if you're using a Microsoft 365 business email account, a Microsoft personal account (such as outlook.com, hotmail.com, or live.com), or a third-party email provider account such as Google workspace?

    • Are you using Exchange, IMAP or POP3 email set up?
    • May I please double confirm if the Microsoft editor is grayed out (not active) or Microsoft Editor is active but not working properly?
    • May I please double confirm if you have tried to enable "Privacy Settings" option in the new outlook? If not, please kindly navigate to Settings > General > Privacy and Data > Privacy Settings > enable the toggle "Turn on optional connected experiences", then check if there is any difference.

I look forward to your response. Kindly note that the above requested information is required for further analysis and troubleshooting of your situation. Your patience and cooperation are much appreciated.

Thank you for your precious time. Have a nice day.

    Sincerely,

    Libeamlak | Microsoft Community Moderator

Since you have File > Options, you are in fact running the classic version of Outlook (not the new Outlook).

In the classic version, access all proofing and grammar options via File > Options > Mail > Editor Options.

    Thank you for your reply.

    • I don't think that type of email account has anything to do with what I want to achieve but I have 5 accounts and they're all IMAP.
    • I do have an Editor in the toolbar but it does not have the "arrow down" so I could get to the Editor settings
    • Frankly, I can't even find settings! under File I found Options but there is nothing that would lead me to Privacy Settings

    Thank you,

    Sam
