New outlook 365 - where to add or define a new bullet or numbering format in email/message

  1. I am frustrated with the new Outlook / Microsoft 365. It feels like useful features have been removed, and instead, one is left with a "joyful (distracting) splash of colors" (untick). The interface is not intuitive at all, making it difficult to navigate and use. So far, I see no benefits—it is honestly pushing me towards switching to a Mac.
  2. I cannot figure out (i) how to bring back automatic numbering and bullet lists into messages - why would someone even remove this feature? (ii) How to install old version of Outlook - I rather go back to an intuitive version.

    Inema:

The replies on this thread have answered your questions using screenshots and descriptions that fully describe this issue:
The Bullets and Numbered Bullets icons no longer present a drop-down arrow to allow users to change the default bullet and numbered bullet types. We are left with the ill-designed default hierarchy of bullets that progress from a small black dot to a small outlined dot to a huge black square when pressing TAB to nest/subordinate sub-bullets.

This is not only a poor choice of default bullet types to apply to items of decreasing importance or significance (minor point), but as mentioned by all the other responders to this thread, Outlook 365 no longer provides users options to change these bullet types (major point) to match their preferences or at least overcome the arbitrary choices of engineers or product managers that clearly do not understand the basic principals of graphic design and layout.

Please reply to this thread - even if only to confirm that Microsoft in its infinite wisdom has deliberately chosen to take away any options for Outlook 365 users to change these bullet and numbering types. Somehow users of Word and Excel are still entitled to making these choice on their own, but users of Outlook 365 are not worthy of making these choices.

    Cheers,

    ChrisF

    I'm having the same issue,

In the new look, the ribbon at the top when composing a new/reply message, looks like this:

If you want an ordered list of items using something other than 1, 2, 3, the toolbar item highlighted above used to have a drop-down where you could change to a different number format (for example: A., B., C., or i, ii, iii, etc).

In the new UI, how do I create a list with A., B. C. (rather than 1, 2, 3) and why would that kind of feature be removed /hidden?

Same thing with bullets - you used to be able to change the bullet style in the same manner (with a drop-down in the ribbon) - how to now?

I have the same issue with New Outlook. The previous version of Outlook allowed me to choose the style of bullet, which was helpful when creating emails with different sections. I wish that feature was in the New Outlook. I don't want a solid circle or a number. I need the open circle bullet and check mark, as well.

Has anyone received an answer of how to change bullet styles in the New Outlook since there is no dropdown arrow next to it anymore?
