Hi all,

On my old laptop I was able to copy (control c) and paste emails (control v) to another directory. However I now have a new laptop. When I copy mails I get a note -> Copied to clipboard. But when I open the clipboard I cant find the mail.

Any tips on how I can copy the mails?

kr,
Marc

This and other reversals of functions in your new suite are enormously frustrating. Wasted time and investetment in prior when I was more junior.

Dear Marc van der Peet, hello!

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

According to your description, you cannot copy and paste your emails to another folder in the new laptop. I understand your confusion.

First of all, you need to understand that in New Outlook, you cannot copy and paste an email in account A to anywhere in account B. This is because emails in different accounts are stored on their own mailbox servers, so cross-account operations are not possible.

Note: Emails "copied to clipboard" in New Outlook will not be directly displayed in the system clipboard, but saved in Outlook's internal operations.

If you are unable to use the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V) to copy emails to another folder, there are other methods you can try.

    1. Use the right-click menu

Right-click the email you want to copy.

Select "Copy" from the pop-up menu. Then select the destination folder.

    2. Use drag-and-drop

Open Outlook and make sure the folder list on the left is visible.

Find the email you want to copy. Press and hold the Ctrl key while dragging the email to the destination folder. This will create a copy.

If the above methods do not work, I suggest you try the following methods to find out if there is a problem with the New Outlook application.

    1. Clear Outlook (new) cache:

    Win+R, open the Run window

    Enter the command: olk.exe --clearLocalState

After completion, restart the computer and make sure it works properly.

    1. Rename the Olk folder:

    Path: c:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Olk

After renaming the folder and reopening Outlook (new), a new Olk folder will be regenerated.

(Note: It is just a rename. It is not deleted directly to prevent the previous data from having something you want. You can still rename it back and the data is still there.)

    The difference between the two:

1: After clearing the cache and opening New Outlook, the previously configured mailboxes are still there, but you may need to re-enter the password (especially for mailboxes with IMAP and POP protocols).

2: After renaming the folder and opening New Outlook, all previously configured mailboxes disappear and you need to re-configure the mailboxes.

I will continue to monitor your issue. Please let me know how things go.

    Best regards
