Steps for Gmail emails accounts setup in Outlook 2021 do not work for me

I have other laptops that have Office 2016, and I had to purchase Office 2021 (which I am finding DOES NOT take gmail account setups as easily as Outlook 2016 did. If I remove credentials it will mess up my other devices. I spent $250.00 to add this to my new laptop, and now I cannot set up my gmail accounts with Outlook 2021. This issue needs to be fixed so that other people do not experience this without have to go through a myriad of multiple steps. I am exceedingly disappointed. I've spent hours on this and every solution I have tried does not work.

    Hi Seemagic,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and making community posts.

I understand the importance of having this issue resolve and to add information Outlook 2021 has stricter security requirements, which can make Gmail account setup more complicated. Here are some steps that might help:

    Possible Fixes

    1. Enable IMAP in Gmail
      • Go to Gmail Settings.
      • Navigate to Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
      • Ensure IMAP Access is enabled.
    2. Use an App Password (if you have two-factor authentication enabled)
      • Visit Google’s App Password page.
      • Generate an app password for Outlook and use it instead of your regular Gmail password.
    3. Manually Configure Gmail in Outlook
      • Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
      • Select Manual setup or additional server types.
      • Choose IMAP and enter the following settings:
        • Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com, Port 993, SSL enabled.
        • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com, Port 587, TLS enabled.
    4. Check Antivirus and Firewall Settings
      • Some security software can block Outlook’s connection to Gmail.
      • Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall and try adding the account again.
    5. Try Adding Gmail via Windows Control Panel
      • Open Control Panel > Mail (Microsoft Outlook).
      • Click Email Accounts > New

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Hi Seemagic,

    Thank you for your response.

    1. Use an App Password (if you have two-factor authentication enabled)
      • Visit Google’s App Password page.
      • Generate an app password for Outlook and use it instead of your regular Gmail password.

If this is not an option possibly you haven't enabled yet the 2-step verification on your account try to enable it.

VPN is not an issue. Split tunneling is activated.

Server settings already correct, as well as passwords.

No where on my Gmail account does it offer a password generator. And MS already has access to the 3rd party information. Like I said, not an issue on Outlook 2016, but it needs to be fixed on Outlook 2021. (Note: This is not an issue with the New Outlook which is the email client with Windows 10) I am having to use two different email clients to access all of my email.

None of your recommendations work. I imagine there are many other people who face the same issue.

The seemagic account is not being used, as it has been hacked.

I am logged in as drbailey230 (which is the MS account).
