Send an Attachment (New Outlook)

I have found an extremely irritating behaviour, in the new version of Outlook

If, within any 365 Office products, you share the file with someone by email as an attachment - it wont, At that point. The mail will disappear, not appear in sent items or drafts in New Outlook.

When you return to New Outlook the following day, all mails sent from Office in this fashion will magically appear in your sent items and be sent!

The only way I have found to overcome this is to

  • send directly from New Outlook, adding the Office item as an attachment
  • Switch back to 'Proper' Outlook
  • have both 'Proper' and 'New" Outlook open all day

It's not a folder that is being attached but a standard file.

It works fine in "Classic" Outlook but not in "New" Outlook

And the issue with is everyone who has had the misfortune to try the New Outlook

    Hi Dave

    Thank you for your clarification.

I understand your frustration while the issue is happening with everyone using New Outlook.

As a Forum Moderator, I’m afraid that this is beyond my support level and to save your time, it's recommended that you submit feedback by clicking Help > Feedback in New Outlook. Microsoft appreciates valuable feedback from users, and the product team will review the customers’ feedback carefully to better the product.

I’m sorry for any inconvenience. Your understanding and patience are highly appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Dave

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

If you are attaching a folder to an email in the New Outlook, it won’t send immediately if certain conditions are met. Here are some common reasons for this:

    • Attachment Size
    • Folder Compression
    • Server Issues
    • Send/ Receive Settings
    • Office and Outlooking not updated

Moreover, to get more understanding of the issue, could you please let me know whether:

    • Any member in your business has the same issue?
    • The issue remains the same if you use the New Outlook on another device.

I’ll be looking forward to your prompt response.

    Best regards,
