Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.
Consider what’s happening in your scenario:
- You created rules (filters based on subject keywords) that automatically move certain incoming emails into a specified folder (away from Inbox).
- Those emails arrive quietly in the folder; Outlook mobile doesn’t pop up a notification because the message skipped the Inbox.
- Meanwhile, any email that stays in the Inbox (not caught by a rule) triggers a notification normally, which is why you see alerts for some mails and not others.
There is a workaround you could try to get notified for subfolder Mail
Modify Your Rules to “Copy” Instead of “Move”
Rather than moving the email entirely out of the inbox, adjust the rule so that:
- A copy of the email stays in the Inbox, and
- Another copy is placed in the target folder.
This way, when a new message arrives:
- It will still appear in your Inbox (triggering the mobile notification as usual),
- And you’ll have it organized in your folder (you might later delete the inbox copy or mark it read).
This compromise means you won’t miss the alert, and you still know where to find the email later in the folder.
You’ve done the right thing by checking the forums – many have encountered this. If the forum answers weren’t satisfying for your version, consider using the in-app support to raise the issue:
- Open Outlook on Android, go to Settings > Help & Feedback > Contact Support (or “Help & Feedback > Send Feedback”). Explain that you need notifications for folder mail. This goes directly to the Outlook Mobile support team.
I'm sincerely sorry for the inconvenience that you've encountered. We appreciate your patience and are here to help. Looking forward to your response!
Best Regards,
