On my PC, this problem was resolved by the installation of this update yesterday:

    2025-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5062553)

    Have a good day, Sarah!

Just want to check if you're still having the problem with email sound notification.

Thank you for your continued patience, and I’m truly sorry to hear that the issue with missing sound notifications for emails and meetings in Outlook is still unresolved despite your efforts.

Since you've already verified the Outlook and Windows sound settings, checked Focus Assist, tested across devices, and ensured that notification options are enabled, we’d like to suggest a few additional steps that may help:

     Advanced Troubleshooting Suggestions:

    1. Create a New Windows User Profile
Occasionally, user profile corruption can affect system-level notifications. Creating a new Windows profile can help isolate the issue.
    2. Check for Conflicting Software
Audio enhancement tools, antivirus software, or third-party notification managers may interfere with Outlook sounds. Try disabling them temporarily to test.
    3. Run System File Checker
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:
       sfc /scannow

This will scan and repair any corrupted system files that might be affecting sound playback.
    4. Check Focus (Windows 10/11)
      • Go to Settings > System > Set Priority Notification > Click on Add App. There will be option you can add Outlook Classic to the priority notification.
      • Go to Setting > System > Turn off Do not Disturb
    5. Reinstall Outlook or Microsoft 365
If you're using the desktop version, a full reinstall may resolve deeper configuration issues.
    6. Use Windows Update
      • Go to Settings > Windows Update and ensure your system is fully up to date. Sometimes, missing sound notifications are resolved through cumulative or feature updates.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or need additional help, please feel free to reaching out to us.

    Best regards,

Hi - I am also having the same issue - no sounds on either meeting notifications or emails, and I have done everything you mentioned above. Any other suggestions?

    Hi Misty,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue where you're no longer receiving a sound notification when new emails arrive, despite having all notification settings enabled. We are more than happy to help you with this situation.

Thanks for your message. Based on your issue—where you're no longer hearing a sound when a new email arrives in Outlook despite having notifications enabled—here are some steps and checks that may help resolve it:

    1. Verify Outlook Sound Settings

    In the Outlook desktop app:

    • Go to File > Options > Mail
    • Under Message arrival, ensure "Play a sound" is checked

    2. Check Windows Sound Settings

Sometimes the issue lies in Windows rather than Outlook:

    • Open Control Panel > Sound
    • Under the Sounds tab, select Windows Default in the Sound Scheme
    • In the Program Events list, scroll to New Mail Notification
    • Make sure a sound is selected and test it using the Test button
    • Click Apply and then OK to save changes

    3. Check Windows Sound Settings

    • Open Control Panel > Sound > Sounds tab
      • Under Program Events, scroll to New Mail Notification
      • Ensure a sound is assigned (e.g., Windows Notify Email.wav)
      • Click Test to confirm the sound plays

    4. Check Volume and Output Device

    • Make sure your speakers or headphones are connected and not muted
      • Check that the correct output device is selected in the system tray

    5. Check Focus Assist (Windows 10/11)

    • Go to Settings > System > Focus Assist
      • Make sure it’s set to Off or configured to allow notifications from Outlook

    6. Restart Outlook and Your PC

    • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve notification glitches

We understand how important timely alerts are for your workflow, and we’d like to help resolve this as efficiently as possible. To better assess the situation and tailor our recommendations, could you please provide a bit more information:

    1. Has this issue started recently, or has it been ongoing for some time?
    2. Have there been any recent changes to your system—such as Windows updates, Outlook updates, or changes to sound settings?
    3. What Window are you currently using? (Window 10 or 11)
    4. Are you using any custom sound schemes or third-party audio devices (e.g., Bluetooth headsets)?
    5. Does the issue occur only for new emails, or are other Outlook notifications (e.g., calendar reminders) also silent?

Once we have this information, we’ll be able to guide you through the most appropriate troubleshooting steps. Thank you for your patience.

    Best regards,
