My microsoft account has been blocked. Unsuccessful appeal

My microsoft account has been blocked.

"Your account has been locked

We've detected some activity that violates our Microsoft Services Agreement and have locked your account. How to appeal this and unlock your account Look for the username at the top of this notice. You'll need it. Then go to https://aka.ms/compliancelock"****

I appealed. Their response

"We have reviewed your appeal and the results are as follows:

Policy violated:  Abuse of our Platform and Services

Microsoft system used: Skype

Date of appeal: 01-09-2025

Appeal results: Violation confirmed (Decision upheld)"

The "Upheld" the decision of blocking and reason given was non-descript.

"SKYPE"

I HAVE NOT USEED SKYPE nearly at all in years. Like most I use zoom.

Edit: My wife tells me she used it last week to ring an Australian bank (we are in another
country at present) however that is it.

Onedrive now has my personal and business files, family photos. To say I am upset is

an understatement. I have read the term, conditions, details of breaches and

there is nothing I believe I could have done to breach them.

I am happy to leave microsoft if they don't want business but I want MY files.

I believe this is theft and the very reason I used onedrive was to safeguard my family

photos and files in particular.

I have appealed as said, and there is no real explanation, proof of anything at all.

Same thing has happened to me. I think it is time to class action sue Microsoft. If it's an AI algorithm - they are still accountable for it 'misbehaving'.

    I had 2FA via Authenticator - a similarity
I had Skype as the offending app - a similarity
    I don't use Skype - a similarity

    Dear JIm

Let me outline my problem. I have both a Microsoft 365 (pay monthly) and a Microsoft "single-use Word and Outlook. When I bought I new Mac the Single uses did not transfer thru the "Migration Process". For the last two weeks I have tried to figure out how to load the single-use, but when I signed in it kept taking me to the 365. I have tried over and over to get online help, phone help and chat help to no avail. When I sign in through Microsoft Support it just keeps sending me to FAQs of one type or another. Now my Accounts have been locked so I have go from bad to worse.

My phone was stolen this is the third time this has been aloud to happen as I I have a plan with Optus and having my handbag and device stolen at the same time I was unable with no identification to transfer my plan phone number onto a blank SIM leaving this person or persons able to access all of my accounts on my phone device for over a month allowing them to change my payment destination three times through myGov also receiving my annual cash advance from Centrelink totalling over $3000 while I was helpless to stop it contacting Optus on the daily by phone and instore at two locations Rundle mall Adelaide and tea tree gully at numerous times during this period. I had a photo sent on messenger of my proof of age card and medicare. This would have been excepted over the phone verification once speaking to superviser's tho I was missing the card number on the reverse side of the photo ID I had never been asked to verify before also I supplied details only I could could know other than my security questions 1. Where I purchased my Sim card plan, Harvey Norman and plan data allowance and billing amount $. Also I had last year fallen behind in payment to the amount of around 100$ while rushing to a critical appointment requirement to receiving my benifits I took time to help an elderly lady to unlock her gate she was also late for a dental appointment near where I was rushing to mine I helped her and the lovely lady employee heard and after confirming what she had suspended and placing me on hold she as a one time courtesy credited and removed the 100 over due bill no doubt this would have been enough with the photo of my id and medicare to identify me tho still they refused

PLEASE CONTACT ME ON [phone number removed] OR *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

    Hello,
The same thing is happening to me also, can we all make a group and file legal case against microsoft for this lack of transparency in their process, and keeping our personal files with them as hostage

My OneDrive account was suddenly suspended, and I have lost access to over 650GB of crucial business and personal data. I trusted Microsoft with my data and paid for their services, but now, everything is inaccessible to me.

    What Happened?

    • A few days ago, all my shared folders turned into URLs and stopped syncing.
    • I raised a complaint (Case No. 7069945377) but received no resolution.
    • Instead, my account was suspended for a supposed violation of Microsoft’s Code of Conduct related to "Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse."
    • I never violated any policy, yet my first appeal was denied without any details on which file or folder was in violation.
    • Microsoft’s own safety policy states that an account is suspended only after multiple violations, but I never received any warning or notice.

    My Urgent Concern

    • 650GB of my business and personal data is locked away.
    • I only want my data back, even if the account remains suspended.
    • I was not given any proof or proper review, just an automated decision.

Has anyone faced this before? How can I escalate this to get my data back? Microsoft is holding my life’s work hostage, and I feel helpless. Please advise!

    Thank you.

This is my situation too, is there any way forward? Perhaps a class action lawsuit? This was too crazy for me, I cannot believe this was legal.

Exactly the same thing happened to me this month. I have Skype account but seldomly used. Last week I was traveling overseas (to Germany) and I rented a mobile wifi. Not sure if it's the reason they thought someone log in from strange locations, but i didn't use Skype when I was traveling only tried to log in my email but can't (maybe already blocked). I'm applealling for 2nd time but see your guys' result I don't have confidence. I might write to local newspaper to make people aware of this. Seriously nowadays people trust cloud so much and we can lose everything just like that...
