Spam Has Disappeared in Outlook.com Spam Folder?

Maybe a week or so ago everything disappeared in my Spam Folder and it's contents are not showing up in my Deleted Folder. I usually get a lot of spam so for nothing to be in my Spam Folder something has happened. I use both outlook.com and Outlook app on my PC and have noticed in the past for some reason there's always spam in my Outlook.com Spam Folder but nothing in my Outlook app Spam Folder on my PC, never understood that. That's a different issue though for now need help with disappearing spam.

Anyway I have disabled all the 'Rules' I have created in case one of them was causing an issue but still nothing in Spam Folder. I regularly have to look in my Spam Folder when I get a confirmation email from websites I sign up for and a lot of times that email is in that folder. Kind of a big deal to not see anything in my Spam Folder now.

I use Microsoft Office 365.

Anyone have an idea what is happening?

    (1) There is no Rules and Retention Policies just Rules and nothing in there about Retention Policies.

    (2) I have already disabled all filters & Rules and it didn't make a difference.

    (3) Outlook.com is not showing any Spam in the Spam Folder so syncing to the app doesn't help with the issue.

    (4) It is updated

    (5) I'm already using outlook.com and there is no Spam in the Spam Folder and I always have Spam in that folder.

    Dear Mike,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is John, and I am a Microsoft Community Support Team.

I understand how concerning it must be to find all emails disappearing from your Spam Folder, especially when you rely on it for confirmation emails from websites. I truly appreciate your patience as we address this frustrating situation.

Here are steps to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Retention Policy Settings:
      • Log into www.Outlook.com  and navigate to Settings > Mail > Rules and Retention Policies.
      • Verify if there’s a retention policy enabled for your Spam Folder that automatically deletes emails after a certain period. Adjust the settings if necessary.
    2. Review Junk Mail Options:
      • In Outlook.com, go to Settings > Mail > Junk Email and confirm that no filters or blocked senders are accidentally deleting or moving emails.
    3. Sync Your Outlook App:
      • Ensure that your PC Outlook app is properly synced with your www.Outlook.com  account. Navigate to File > Account Settings > Account Settings, select your email account, and check sync settings for Junk or Spam folders.
    4. Update Microsoft Office 365:
      • Ensure your Microsoft Office 365 apps, including Outlook, are up to date. Outdated versions may cause syncing or visibility issues.
    5. Test Spam Folder in Web Interface:
      • Use www.Outlook.com  to access your email online and check the Spam Folder directly to ensure no emails are there but hidden in the app view.
