Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Hello,
You're much more an Outlook "Power" used than I am. Even during my corporate days, I tried to keep it simple. My focus was on coding / testing. I used various options only when I needed them. Sending / receiving emails and using Calendar for bookings was pretty much all I needed in Outlook. Keep checking Proton, they add features occasionally. What they add is partially driven by the usser community. Proton asks the community what they would like to see. Proton has every thing I need. I have a Proton subscription. The other apps are worth looking into. Most importantly, Proton is very private. The "Five Eyes" or anybody can not "see" your emails / data. Proton can import from most Email services.
I have both Outlooks on my PC. I have no problems accessing the classic Outlook. The classic Outlook is the desktop app from Microsoft 365. the new Outlook is a disguised app. It redirects to the online Outlook, which is the new Outloook.
Microsoft seems to be transitioning uses into two groups, public and corporate. The public will be getting the new Outlook (Mail, Calendar, ToDo etc. and redirects to the online versions of Excel, Word etc.). Which all use OneDrive. Get ready to buy more OneDrive space. You can also have a Microsoft 365 subcription which also give you access to the desktop apps. With the free online versions, I don't know if it will continue to be an option for the Public users. For me this is a potential problem. I use MS Access. It is only available as a desktop app. If you have Windows (Home), you're most likely falling into this category. The corporate groups usually have a paid version of Microsoft 365 and therefore will have the local desktop apps with the 365 look.
