Google is constantly asking me to sign into my account to allow Outlook access to my gmail account. I have 365 for Mac.

This has been going on multiple times per day for years! Sometimes it pops up in the middle of writing an email, sometimes once is not enough and I have to go through the sign-in process 2, 3, 4, times in a row to gain access to Outlook! It is driving me nuts and nothing I have found on the web has helped. Everything is up to date - my computer's operating system and Outlook. Nothing has changed with my gmail account. WHY do I have to keep doing this?! And, how can I make it stop?

    Dear customer,

Thanks for reaching out to us here in Microsoft Community.

According to your description, you are annoyed about your gmail account constantly asked to login in Outlook. Please correct if I've misunderstood.

For now, Gmail requires user to add OAuth 2.0 to their gmail account on non-google mail apps.

If your account was not configured with OAuth 2.0, Google may think your account can be easily posed to security risk, therefore you may frequently be requested to enter a password to authenticate, and that's the issue you encounter.

Since you are using Microsoft 365 version of Outlook for mac, and you state that your current version of Mac is the latest, you don't have to worry about compatibility.

Generally, you can fix the problem by adding your gmail accounts through an automated process, without having to manually configure them for POP or IMAP. If you have a need to manually sync your gmail with IMAP/POP, you'll need to turn on gmail's double verification and use a one-time specific generated app password.

Thank you very much, Stan. I am surprised that Google never notified me of this change. I am certain that this has not been the problem all along because it has been an issue for at least 5 years.

Thank you for the links you provided. I found that the email address I had added earlier this month had a different view in the Accounts tab in Outlook. So, I removed and reloaded my primary email. It is now configured without IMAP, so I hope this works! Yay!

I'll let you know if it comes back, but I think it did the trick! Thank you!!
