I am using Exchange on-prem account with my outlook and I am not able to see the New Outlook toggle option in my Outlook 2021, 2024, M365 enterprise account.
I did try this option from the link mentioned below but this works only for exchange online account.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/outlook-on-the-web/enable-disable-employee-access-new-outlook#us-the-registry-to-enable-or-disable-the-new-outlook-toggle-in-outlook-desktop

Kindly help me understand how an Exchange on-prem account can have this toggle option available.

Is Exchange on-prem supported with new outlook ?

Hi Ajay Pahilwan,

Good day and thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We are happy to assist you.

Currently, New Outlook does not support POP and on-premises Exchange accounts even if you are using Exchange SE. The New Outlook only supports Microsoft 365 work and school accounts (Exchange Online), Outlook.com / Hotmail as Exchange mailbox providers and other third-party accounts connecting through IMAP. Support for On-Premises Exchange or other hosted Exchange services will be added later. For more details, please kindly refer to this article: Accounts in the new Outlook for Windows | Microsoft Learn

However, I suggest you consider migrating mailboxes to Exchange Online. With Exchange Online accounts, users will be able to use New Outlook and OWA. For more details, please refer to this article: Exchange Server hybrid deployments | Microsoft Learn

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I am looking forward to your response. If you have further question, please feel free to reach out to me. I will try my best to assist.

Sincerely,

Nam-D - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist.

Later? When later? This has been going on for more than a year, and some of us want to use the desktop platform with our email accounts. We're not administrators and don't have the luxury of migrating our mailboxes or whatever that noise is. Maybe Microsoft should focus on making these things work across the board instead of releasing them before they're ready and then leaving them unfinished.

    Hi Ajay Pahilwan,

Thank you for your response. I glad that my information is helpful for you.

In addition, I also suggest you look at the Exchange Server hybrid deployments | Microsoft Learn. Hybrid Deployment is more flexible for on-premises account.

    Hi Nam-D,

Thank you for your quick response. This we are looking for the customer who are using Exchange on-premise and using Enterprise Vault to archive there items. At present our Add-in is not supported with new outlook (toggle On option) and we are planning to build the support it for on-prem exchange mailboxes.

I have raised the feedback around it as mentioned and same you can see using link

We would like to get the toggle option available for on-prem exchange account. Which will allow user to get the new look and feel. · Community
