Hi, there. my iphone is on system 18.03.1. I am now getting this notification 'New Message: Open Outlook to read your message'. I have read other forums and they say to turn on Face ID for outlook and then turn it off but there is no face ID option in my Outlook settings.

How can I fix this issue and see a preview on ten email instead of this message.

    Hi,

I believe I can help you understand as I'm having this issue too. My Iphone suddenly after updating doesn't show email previews anymore, it just says "you have an email, open outlook to view the message". FaceID is turned OFF in the outlook app, and I can't find any other settings that seem to indicate I've asked outlook to stop showing me a preview of the emails. I want to see a preview of the emails in my notifications instead of "you have a new email, open outlook to see it".

Applies to: Outlook app on iPhone

This 'error' has started happening in the last week (today is 28th February 2025).

When this first started, no messages were showing previews on the lock screen despite previews being turned on in iPhone Notifications settings and within the Outlook app settings. This was previously working fine.

    Note: Previews are turned on.

I have tried a couple of things such as the FaceID on and off again solution, restart phone etc. Now, most messages are showing a preview but I and two colleague of mine are still getting sporadic notifications of 'New message: Open outlook to view this message".

This happens often enough that it is annoying. I'm assuming there has been an update of some sort to the app which is causing this?

    Take care,

Unfortunately that does work, but only for a couple of min and then it reverts right back to the message and no preview. This is especially annoying with an apple watch as you can't see anything.

Seeing as many people across multiple organizations are seeing this all of a sudden, it must be a new setting or bug in O365. But I'm shocked that no one has any more info including Microsoft.

It always kills me that a company gets so big that the people supporting the product don't even know what's being updated or changed.

Hope we get this figured out.

    Thanks all.

I am also having this issue. Previews are enabled & face ID is turned off. My iphone will be unlocked and will still give a "New message to view in outlook" - highly frustrating.

I assume this has to be some setting that can't be adjusted by the user that is causing this issue.
